But I really dont think a third series would be a good thing . As much as I love Green Wing we must be aware that the genius of it is it's unpredictability and if it goes on too long it will become very predictable indeed. They make hour long shows and that is a lot of material to be original with isnt it? I just think of classics such as Fawty Towers and remember that shows that go out on top are the best kind. Lets hope the writers dont fall into the trap of many American sitcoms and kill Green Wing slowly and painfully. To sumerise as long as the episode to be shown at Xmas will be wacky ,original and unpredictable I will be a very happy bunny

i agree jemma! It hasn't got the scope to carry on like only fools and horses or something, It's good enough to end where it is, as much as I'd love a series 3 , I don't think it would work.

Do I look like a mug? Do I have a handle? Am I made of china? Am I kept in a cupboard or on a small wooden tree? Would you LIKE to put your lips on my rim? You may answer that question.. the others were rhetorical.
i dont agree. i think there could be load of possibility for a third series which could be realy funny
some i have had if it ends with caroline getting with mac and they deside to get married
they could have meting the family caroline sister (identical twin) could have her kiss guy mac seeing getting the wrong idea (Both). they could have some really funny scence with caroline no sure what going on. then gets it. and explains she has a twin and no one believes her. trying to find her sister when she find her tell her sister to stay there. go get the guy and she has gone.
then there her brother and mac family. either two ways with the dad either he walk in on her in her underwear. or she is having a bad day and insults him before she finds out he is mac dad. she try and make it up but each time makes it worse. his mum total loved holly. and dad things sue is great making caroline feel very insecure. then theres the new docter who get on really well with everyone. (exspecally mac). Making caroline feel even worse.
martin meting his dad. the engagment party. the wedding which caroline could be kidnapped by guy or sue. the possibilities are endless. end up over the cliff again
i know that people always say this and in a way the british sitcoms are right to end it while they are still loved but i just think this would be too soon for GW. you see if you've got a winning formula why not use it? as long as it's still good they can keep it going! i tink that two seasons just isn't enough for this great show!

the thingabout GW is that it's sketchy, and therefore doesnt have too many characters. The second series became more plot orientated, and the sketches had to spawn from the plot, and therefore they were not as random as the first series-dotn get me wrong s2 was great. But I think a full length s3 wouldnt work as well. Some threads have suggested introducing new characters etc, but would that really work in a show tht is based aroud central characters? There would have to be the intro of the new characters, and thus take away from the sketch style of the show further. The reason I think maybe friends, and other amaerican shows hang on for so long is because they dont set out to nbe sketchy, and also maybe because they all work some where different etc so there is more scope to add extra tihngs in e.g "oh you know so and so from work", where as in GW they all owrk together, live together(guy caro), so you know that that's pretty much all they do. And also the whole pogram has really been centred around who caro will end up with in the end, so when tht's decided, it wld be dragging it out-feel free to shout at me lol! I know its been mentioned, but Fawlty Towers anyone?! I'm defo on the ship of going out with a big bang!
sorry was a bit long....couldnt sleep! lol

I agree as even though I can see a third series working I still think it would not be as good as the first two. Similarly if the Xmas special is as brilliant the first two series, were all the ends are tied up we would not need another series. Also I feel that it would be better for Green wing to end on a high and not let a third series ruin it. Hence, then we can always remember it for being good and not selling out, as we do with Fawlty Towers and the office.
i love the office and i think it is brilllant the way he did one last episode and tide up loose end and he gave the public what they wanted. i hate it when show finish but leave lots of loose end
whilst i would dearly love gw to go on forever, i agree that a 3rd series could only go downhill and that as long as i get the dvd of series 2 and the xmas episode (they are said to be releasing it later) then i will be fine! however, if the xmas episode ends up with anyone hanging over that bl**dy cliff, i may have to burn down the channel 4 offices!!

I loved the xmas episode of the office - Tim and dawn finally got together (here's hoping 4 mac and caro), david seemed sort of happy for real this time and like you said gave the public what they wanted. I really hope the green wing writers do the same, but just in case I wil be purchasing a pitch fork before the episode is on.

I'm with you Little Shakespeare, I think there is still a lot of quality material to be had. Maybe not past a 3rd series, but it would depend how season 3 ended.

omg i LOVED that episode! i was crying so much with such happiness!!! i agree that as long as the final ep is good i will accept that GW is over and try and get over it!

I think a 3rd series would be amazing, but i have to say i dont think they would be able to follow on from this series with anythnig as good. It just seems that series two is too dramatic and i would be astounded if there was a series 3 that was good enough to follow series 2, that would be worth praising but i dont think its possible. (it saddens me to say this i love green wing and all good things come in three's)
