As far as I'm concerned, that last episode did not happen.
I cannot f*cking believe the writers care that little about the fans and the characters.
Absolute rubbish - I reject all future Green Wing and shall NOT be watching any Christmas episode. They should be ashamed of themselves for doing that to us - two whole series down the pan with one episode
I know it's silly to get so attached to a TV show but I just really object to writers/producers just not caring what the people who actually watch the show want.
And I know it's a comedy, that's the point - people shouldn't be getting married, having babies and certainly not dying in a show that was supposed to be all about being funny! I loved it when it was more like a sketch show with a bit of plot thrown in and now they've turned it into Eastenders! There were hardly any laughs at all in that whole episode!

i strongly disagree with that. those very writers are the geniuses which have kept many of us hooked for nearly two years, and what they have done is called a cliffhanger. wait till christmas

Mac: Caroline, will you marry me? Car: Yes! Of course! And I won't stick my tongue down anyone elses throat Mac: But you'll have to let me be a dad to Simba Car: Of course, Sue and Simba can live with us like one big happy family
Yes, they have to leave us on tenterhooks to care about what happens at Christmas and to keep us guessing. Very clever, I think, to make us care so much.

I'm with Ickle Gem! It's exactly what has kept people watching. And it's sort of a big part of the series, the suspense and wondering what will happen next.

There would be no GW without the writers. None of us would have had any of our favourite scenes, our favourite lines, our favourite characters. There would be no quote games, no mac-love, no shipping, no same-sex snogging, and Julian Rhind-Tutt would be just another jobbing actor.

Yep indeedy. To have promoted this kind of reaction they are certainly not predictable. Bravo to them, if it had all been tied up neatly with a happy ending it would have been an anti-climax.
i found quite a lot of the scenes in that epiosode funny. When boyce was going in the kitchen! no in the kitchen. and the boxes and karen falling out the window and harriet wearing her whole wardrobe and loads more! Also sad wif mac dying, but i was quite happy wif car and guy
Originally posted by roquentin: Quite, Pash. Very well put. *And* they did the same 'cliffhanger' again, which made me insanely happy, for some reason.
not just the same cliffhanger, but they took the great care to get almost exactly the same shots, and even placed joanna in the same seat as mac to give the same overall visual appearance
and, should the writers be reading, and requiring inspiration for anymore potential scenes, we (i generalise in good faith) are not averse to more same-sex snogs
you haven't indulged the mac-guy relationship fully yet, for instance. that would make some women, naming no names, very happy indeed

I am not (completely) criticizing the writers as up to this episode Green Wing is brilliant, but for me it's not the fact that Caro ended up with Guy, it's the fact that they most likely killed off Mac. They want us to be pissed off. However, I think hope remains, even though Green wing is very surreal, tonight's episode was more then usually surreal, characters acting out of character, the whole scene with the same cliff hanger ending, Karen’s death etc, thus the idea of it all being a dream is for me quite believable. The fact that we are discussing it also proves that the writing is good. However, I still think it is a shit ending.
