My husband and I are die hard Green Wing fans and have been reading via the internet that there was a Green Wing pilot show filmed. Does anyone know if it's possible to buy it anywhere or view it online?

I know there is yeps, if you listen to the commentary on series1 dvd, you'll get more info; some of the scenes from the very first episode are taken from it.

I don't know of anywhere you can get it online, but it's a great idea!

We have so many things we want to know and see, i hope they get put on the possible complete GW dvd!

Thanks Becca, what a great idea about the dvd hope they put it on there it would be great to see how it first started out. I can't get enough of Green Wing at the moment, it's lovely having something really funny to watch in this horrible grey wet month that is January.

I had my first baby at Basingstoke Hospital where some of the scenes were filmed so I try to play guess the location everytime I watch an episode - keeps me out of trouble!!!

Was the pilot episode ever actually aired? I'm sure I heard somewhere that it wasn't? Could be wrong though

No, pilot episodes are primarily for TV bigwigs to see and noone else.

Doon Mackinichan played Joanna in the original, I heard.

Yes it would. Doon played Caroline in the pilot, but "ahem" went off and had a baby soon afterwards. They included scenes from the pilot in the first episode - hence the varying hair length/style of the main characters.

no I stand corrected ( which is quite good cos been drinking since lunchtime) doon played joanna didn't she

It was discussed at the BFI interview, Victoria Pile confirmed that Doon played Caroline in the pilot and after much "hemming" said that Doon had become pregnant and was unable to film and that was one of the reasons Tamsin got the role (apart from being perfect for it that is)

Just read the wikiped entry on green wing and it states that Doon played Joanna in the pilot and was meant to play her in the series . . . another 'green wing unsolved' for you!
