As has now been widely reported, Victoria Pile is working on an idea for a spin-off from Green Wing which Channel 4 will likely commission. The trouble is that, at the moment, details are top secret and thus we don't know any more than that. From the impression we get it is not only a 'potential' show though but something that is very much going ahead - after all, we can't imagine Channel 4 would pass up the opportunity to get another hit!
Something else to mention: When asked about a rumoured spinoff at the BFI event Victoria Pile seemed to glance in the direction of JRT, TG and SM before dodging the question. Could this be an indication of the characters involved?
sounds good ey?
also:There is also currently some speculation that TalkbackThames are considering releasing a 'Complete Green Wing Boxset' which would contain the S1, S2 and Special DVD sets plus some all-new footage. This speculation exists as we know there is plenty more bonus material that has been filmed but we've yet to see. It includes more out-takes, film from the various signing sessions and great behind-the-scenes footage (for starters, there's a film somewhere of the writers playing Guyball!). Most recently Patrick and Finn brought the company's cameras with them to the GW Convention and shot lots of material that could be put on a DVD. It might not come to anything of course - stay tuned though as if we hear more we'll be sure to let you know!
i hope this isnt true as i would then have to buy them all again and it would seem a bit of a money grabbing scheme. what do you guys think?
- ITV are about to start filming a new series of Miss Marple. They've signed up quite a few comic actors for these new special length episodes... including a couple of familiar faces. Stephen will be playing the star role of Inspector Bird in the episode 'At Bertram's Hotel' and Mark Heap will be appearing in the same episode as Mutti. Meanwhile JRT will be starring in the 'Ordeal by Innocence' episode, presumably he'll be playing one of the leading characters... one of which is called, we kid you not... Dr MacMaster!
WOOWWEEE!

Great news about a spin off, especially if it involves the "fab 3"! I will definitely buy the box set, if it comes out, mainly for the extras, as those are the bits I like the most! I'm not a fan of Miss Marple, but I will definitely be watching it from now on just to see you know who!
i agree that statham is a great character but mac and CAROLINE do do funny things. what about caroline drunk in s1 ep5 or when mac takes the p!ss out of Guy and the fighting scene. they're all great characters!
____________ Oh christmas tree, oh christmas tree let me push you over!!
And what about all Mac's funny one-liners and the great "surgical" scenes??!! The show wouldn't be the same without them!!!! But I do agree that it is the combination of all the characters which make GW great.
Hasnt the whole 'Mac , Caroline and Guy' thing been done though? I think a spin off would work better with lesser used characters , like Boyce or Martin.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The older the wine the gooder the wine.
For me oneof my favourite parts of the show was the 'will they won't they', this was the thread that ran throughout, however all the characters made the show what it was, Sue W, Dr S, Boyce, Martin.........
We all have our fav characters, scenes, quotes, so many to chose from and that is why it was such a brilliant show, it has this site and had a convention dedicated to it, not bad going eh!?

You're right, as always Jemma1!!! I got a bit carried away thinking how great it would be to see the "fab 3" again all in one show, and didn't really think it through! (That's me all over - open mouth before engaging brain!) And a spin off bothers me too, for the same reason as you - what if its rubbish???!!!

It normally annoys me a bit when another DVD is released in that way but if there were a lot of new extras on it i could be swayed for GW
I wait to make my mind up about the idea of a spin-off, i sort of think Alan/Joanna or Caro/Mac/Guy have run their course in their little groups but perhaps if it followed just one of those characters. Something with Martin could also be good though.
