I know I'm in an ABSOLUTE minority but I'm so sad that Caroline didn't marry Guy in the end!! Because while Guy can be really horrible, he's better than Mac because...

Mac was really horrible to Caroline at the beginning of the first series

• Guy is horrible to others but he's rarely horrible to Caroline
  
• Guy has kissed Caroline more often (and more too!!)
  
• Mac's a bit sarky
  
• Mac's dying!! Caroline's going to be a widow almost straight away!!
  

Guy loves Caroline more

I thought there was going to be a twist and they actually would work out, cos there have been constant references to Guy and Caroline getting married throughout the show.... but ah well.

Am I the only one in the whole world who thinks this???

* Mac barely knew Caroline at the start of series 1, he wasn't that bad to her and was only really mean in the bit where he was upset about horrible holly.
* Guy is horrible to everyone always including caroline
* The number of kisses is irrelevant, it's the quality that counts!

* He might be dying but he is still blimin gorgeous!

Caroline and Guy are so wrong for each other, he'd be better off with someone like Sue so he could have someone to spar with

Oh, and Caroline loves Mac more – if you really like Guy, why would you want him to end up with someone who doesn't really like him, let alone love him?

Mac did treat Caro a bit badly esp with the proposal thing but Guy doesnt love her and she doesnt love him, so thered be no point them getting together

Despite my obvious leaning towards Mac and Caroline I do think that Guy loved her. He let her go afterall.

sorry but i disagree as well! theres always been so much chemistry between mac and caroline, it wouldnt be right for them not to end up together.

he did love her, but he obviously wanted what was best for her which shows what a great guy he is.

i still dont think he was in love with her, at least not as much as Mac was. Cumon he treated her like crap!! The only time he kissed her in that ep was when Mac was there, and he wanted to rub it in Macs face!

In retrospect I was glad Caroline and Guy got engaged – we would never have had the Judi Dench debate otherwise – but even a staunch ‘Guyoline’ fan as you refer to yourself would have to admit it just wouldn’t work! Anyway, Guy has it good… You seem to forget that when Mac finally bites the dust, Guy can begin his campaign to win her back and because he’s so abominably arrogant it’s not an issue for him.

Mac and Caroline had chemistry from the word go. They simply had to end up together!

And I’d just like to point out that despite what I said before hand, Mac has a brain aneurysm which means it could be months… nay, years before his untimely demise, therefore Guy will be waiting a very long time… Ha!

But I’m pretty convinced he won’t abstain from sh*gging in the meantime so he’ll be fine!!

the thing with guy and caroline is that it would have worked, but caroline would always be left thinking 'what if...'

so neither of them would be entirely happy so it wouldnt be fair on them.

okay so to the person that started this thread (cba going back to the top to see who...SORRY!!) i was totally like that. i was all "pleaassee let there be a twist!!" but there wasnt. ah well. i totally see that they wouldnt of been good but i pushed all that back and brought forward my young and rather stupid hope to the front of my mind. so i suppose what im saying it that i agree and did want them together.

I think that if Guy and Caroline had ended up together that they would have managed for a few years but he would drive Caro mad she would have ended up stabbing him sooner or later. Plus Mac was always the one for her they suited each other perfectly.
