This is a really stupid topic I confess, but is anyone else concerned or apprehensive or nervous that the first episode of the new series wouldn't deliver to the same incredibly high quality of the first.
I don't want to put a damper on things - I'm really excited - but how high is everyone's expectations? The reviews I've read have been pretty mixed, with a very positive one in The Guardian and a terrible one in 'The Times'.
I'm just worried that after 18 months of patient waiting, all of us GW fans are going to be left diappointed. Sorry for being really negative and annoying, but I'm just really nervous about the new series. Is that stupid?
Depends. I'm just going to be glad to see them back and continue the story. I'm expecting it will be as good as before, because its the same team.
However, the success of the first series means that the expectations are incredibly (impossibly) high. To some extent the bad reviews must be a result of the weight of expectation that has built up in 18 months. Therefore there will inevitably be critics that knock it, and you can't let them influence your opinion of it.
The only thing that concerns me is that there might not be a series 3, I'm very very happy that there is a series 2.
"I know I'm not wearing much makeup, but thats quite rude"
I had the same worries about Coupling, had seriously mixed feelings when season 2 was about to air, but it proved to be even better! I know this is, in itself, setting me up for a potential fall, but I believe in the power of positive thinking - If disappointment is in my future why spoil the little time of blissful ignorance I have left by being nervous AND disappointed?
I think that with the same cast and writers, it's got every chance of being excellent; after all, it's not like they're throwing the programme together in a really short time, it must have been brewing and planning since the end of the last one.
Think positive, be happy, enjoy the anticipation!
------------------------------------ I'm coming back, I've just got to move my car .... S. Mangan.
I'm expecting the *series* to be as good but the first episode to be a bit dodgy - partly from the reviews & partly 'cos it'll have to play catch-up. I'm sure there'll be some hilarious, inspired moments in it though!
They have indeed been working on the second series for many many months. It's a great team working on it who seem to be amazingly obsessed with getting every detail just so - I reckon we won't be dis-a-point-ed.
im slightly worried i have to admit, saw the three preview clips that have been posted & not keen with the 'imaginary' clips, dont care for them in any programs really but hopefully it will all fit together, the one with alan made me laugh though, he hadnt said anything n i was smiling ... i dont know where the storyline can go in this series & expecting the first couple to be not very good but with this excellent cast members (ms gomez & mr heap esp) im sure it will be an enjoyable series ....hopefully....fingers crossed

Yep. And Tamsin is married to Richard Leaf who was in Neverwhere with her, and Stephen Mangan is with that darkhaired one from No Angels. Lucky woman!
I'm not too worried TBH, I think they have worked on it long enough that it should be as good as it can be. And after all this time, we're finally going to find out what happened on the bloody cliff!

He's an actor, he had a very small role as Iliaster. I think he had a beard in that but I'm not sure.
