James Henry’s take on a possible 3rd Series of GW:
I emailed James Henry [one of the GW writers, in case your unsure], to ask him if the rumours that there may not be a GW Series 3 are true. I’ve included quotes from his reply below that you may like to see, as he kindly gave me permission to quote him if I wished:
"It is indeed unlikely there will be a Series 3 - certainly I think it will be tricky to get all the cast together, Vic needs a break, and all the writers want to do something else. Also I think what works about GW are those moments when you're poised between believability and utter nonsense, and the longer the show goes on, the harder it is to maintain that equilibrium. When all the characters have been in comas, slept with their mothers and so forth, that grounding in reality (unlikely though that sounds) gets harder and harder to maintain.
Also, from a writing point of view, it's much better to have characters that actually go somewhere, rather than getting left in increasingly artificial cliffhangers time after time.
I think we all want to work together again, but in different combinations, and with fresh characters. And shorter episodes.
That said, Ep 8 of series 2 might not be the very end of Green Wing. There may, or may not, be a tiny bit more to come...
Although this is just my opinion. It's entirely possible everyone else is planning series 3 right now, and just haven't told me."

edzmen that was such a cool thing to do n id like to thank you, id allso like to thank mr henry for his time in replying, if the 3rd series is not going to be as good as the others then , (n it hurts me to say) but id stop at two. id rather gw stay the greatest show of all time then die of death. although id love to see more sue white ... corr ..

After all, that kind of footling consideration has never discouraged the Hollyoaks team.
Thanks for that. Part of me would like a third series but I can understand their reasons for not wanting to do one, especially if they couldn't get all the cast back together.
I'd ove to see a third series, but I think it depends on how this series pans out at the end. Maybe there will be a xmas special to wrap things up after, with everone going their seperate ways.
I agree that it shouldn't go on and on, like Ab Fab, the first couple of series of that was brilliant, but got stale afterwards and just seemed to drag on.
thank you edzman!!! i'll be gutted if it doesn't continue because it's such an amazing show, but im sure they will all work together again at some point, as 'cuppatea' mentioned they may even do a christmas special. oh well, there's still a tiny glimmer of hope.......

Yes, if for some crazy reason the writers have taken up sadism and Mac & Caroline dont get back together by the end of Series 2, I think they will
HAVE
to make a Christmas special [or two!] where 'Caro' & Mac can finaly realise how they both feel about each other - but at THE SAME TIME, without the other not listening or dropping an insult to ruin it all.
If they dont get back together I think there's going to be riots outside the Talkback offices!!

It does sound like the characters do reach some sort of conclusion by the end or at least that it can stand as a final incase they werent recommissioned.
I asked Oliver if series 2 is gonna be it for green wing and he said there's still loads to do with the characters. He may well be lying or may not know but I've chosen to believe him!

I don’t think its just teenagers who are hoping that Mac & Caroline get together - check out some of the other posts on the subject on this Forum!
Personally, I would be quite distraught if Mac & Caro don’t re-group, as it were. It seems like the only proper way to end the Series - especially if they are not making a 3rd! Any other ending would detract from the whole reputation of the show for me and I’m not sure I could view GW in the same light again...
There’s a fine line between good surrealism in a comedy plot and pushing it too far so that you end up wrecking the whole thing through obsession with unpredictability...

There has been earlier discussion of this, involving flaming torches and storming the Talkback offices. For me it would spoil the first series as well - reviewing it and knowing that they didn't eventually make it. The comedy would still be good, but it wouldn't be as satisfying. I think we're still getting enough indications in series 2 that Caroline is "the one" for Mac - re the waking up scene and the comments about her eyes, to feel reasonably optimistic, I just hope we're not going to be disappointed.

That’s exactly what I was feeling, but couldn't find the right words... You summed it up brilliantly there, in just two sentences!

heya how awesome was that yesterday - our queue starting was simply divine and I didn't just collapse on the floor! almost, but not quite!
Twas awesome, but I'm upset! You didn't think I was the God of fit!
And where did you go afterwards? I was looking for you but you'd disappeared off the face of the Earth! JRT signed my DVD "On behalf of Michelle Gomez"
