Because I'm sure a funeral for Karen would pave the way for a lot of opportunities for bad (but funny!!) jokes!!

No it's Angela's funeral. We don't know what happened to Karen, she hasn't been seen since she fell out of the window! Typical Karen. Trust her to fall out of a window.

My theory is- Karen badly mangled but survives, Martin sees her on a ward round, Martin does something clever to make her better (proving that he's not such a useless Dr. after all), they fall back in love with each other and live happily ever after.

Then martin goes off with another prossie and Karen dumps him! Oooooonly joking.
