I always that the plural was synopses because the plural of thesis is theses. Ah well thats my English lesson for the day...

synopses indeed, like analyses, axes, hypotheses, parentheses, emphases. and on a gw-related note, i received a text today saying 'we're waiting for the anaesthetist - it's like waiting for christmas'. not randomly - the person who sent it was in fact in a hospital. and the anaesthetist never actually came. tut.
