I don't underrate him! He's one of my top three funniest characters! That elastic face when he's shocked or surprised... Pure class! My favourite scenes involve the Martin/Mac/Guy trio ("drink my pee, pull like me" "maybe I should put an appendix in his bag") and the scenes with Sue White (especially the dead box and the stressed out about exams scenes). I love his relationship with Guy... He's so sweet and innocent and Guy's such a bully yet he takes it all on the chin. Awwww...
I also think that the more you watch Green Wing, the funnier Martin becomes. His character is much more subtle than say Guy, Sue and Statham and I think that is probably why he doesn't get the recognition.
Yeah, he's so innocent! I love him. Loved when he had that fin on his back that he'd bought off eBay, and he was rolling past a nurse on a trolley, but she wasn't looking so missed his whole joke. Sums him up perfectly. Hehe!!
I love Martin too! he rules. and he makes me laugh just as much as the other characters do.

Cousin to Cross&Beard and Mel of course! And related to nearly everyone on this forum.....although how exactly no-one knows.....
i love martin! I thought it was hallerious when sue white jumped out in the curry house and martins face is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny. I couldnt stop laughing, i was watching it over and over again.
Haha yeah martin is brilliant! I think him and Sue White make a really good comedy duo, espceially in the stapler scene and the death box scene, anyone else agree?
... "Oh, count the ants..." I love that scene too. Especially his little face when he realises Mac and Guy have gone.
I've just been watching EP6 S1 again and I'd completely forgotten how funny the whole "Chuzzletooth - a hard working industrious animal" scene is! I love Martin!!
What about the exam scene, when he thinks he has finished, and then realises he hasn't - I know the idea has been done before, but never so beautifully - his face when he turns over the pages and realises!!
Martin makes me laugh but sometimes I want to cry for him – i.e. when he tells Joanna he’s failed his exams again and she replies with “boo hoo… tosser!” – that’s just so harsh. I want to give him a big hug and tell him that I think he’s great even if his own mother is ashamed of him!!
