Would you have changed the course of green wing history if you could?
Would you have sent Holly packing straight away or not brought her in at all?
Would you have stopped Alan and Joannas killing spree?
Would Mac be dying (well I can guess the answer to that, ask a silly question.....)
The thing is its so well written would changing it to how we'd like it to be disturb the balance?

i would never change it! i would however said that mac wasn't dying.

Can't really think of anything to change except the obv. about Mac dying. Def. needed Holly just to cause trouble and give guy a look in. Would actually have been nice to know more about her esp. who is mini macs ( the character not my nephew) dad and of course what happened to the baby she was expecting in series 1?

On the whole mac dying thing sometimes it's better to go out leaving people wanting more rather than overdoing it like some sitcoms like David Jasons do. (Prob just really annoyed only fools and horeses fans)


Think that everyone involved in the program should be really proud that they created something that we all care about so much.

I especially wouldn't have shied away from bringing Holly in, she was genius - not only the character, but Sally as the chosen actress was superb.

I have my own pet theory on this: Caroline was partly to blame for Holly's assault on Mac. (again, stands by for flames)

Because I genuinely DON'T think she was after Mac until Caro said to her: "You couldn't entice him anyway." Watch it again, and watch Holly's expression; it clicks into place that her ego's just been dealt a killing blow by someone she was, up until then, actually being quite nice to. It's only after that she gets her claws in and is clearly determined to keep them there. (apart from the silly bit where she "makes" Mac - and in fact, he could easily have ignore her - show her the way to the locker rooms.)

So no, Holly was brilliant on so many levels. And the killing spree was brilliant: they killed 2 each but all the deaths were ultimately Joanna's fault; She set the dwarf on Statham, and she told him to sit on the shop woman too. Women, eh?!

i agree with you totally series 2 needed Holly to come and stir up trouble and Sally Phillips was brilliant as usual. I've never really liked the scene by the vending machine with them. Know Mac was supposed to be nice to everyone but would he really have been chatting to her after what he thought she'd done. However one of my favourite scenes is when they are using the empty cans as phones and she's going on about how he kissed her.

I'm not flaming you Talespinner, but Guy tells Caroline when she's happy about how things are going that Holly has split from her husband and that she wants Mac back (relayed by Angela?). This is before Holly appears.

Ahh, but that's Guy ... and we all know about him! lol!
I know I said all this before when the series was on, but even before Mini-Mac showed up, I think Mac was a leeetle bit weak when Holly was putting the boot in, he should've told her where to get off from the word 'go' instead of helping her find the locker rooms, and then hanging around talking to her and giving her lifts.

But that's probably just me

Personally, rather than giving her the idea, I think Caroline's comment made Holly's resolute to entice him back all the more determined.

I think in general he was just being helpful, and we only get upset by his behaviour because we identify with Caroline. In my experience, men, don't see through manipulative women like Holly, not in the way a woman would.

If we hadn't had emmy, holly, and spaghetti boy, GW wud hav bin done in 1 series. tho i still hate holly, it wud hav bin very boring with outher and sally phillips is a great actress.
Statham and joannas killing spree was a bit silly but it provided great entertainment and its a comedy not a drama.
Mac's mysterious illnes is just frustrating not knowing what it is, so maybe just telling us wot it is.

completely agree with you here TAILSPINNER, she was cast brilliantly. she was so believable and the storyline was great.

i would probably have liked more kim in the series. i really enjoyed watching her character and believe so much more could have been done with her and boyce.

If they'd finished the Caro/Mac thing in episode 7 and made more of the "mad" characters like Alan, Joanna and Sue in the last 2 episodes I'd have been happy. I would've liked to have seen Statham and Joanna settle down and knit and eat 'soft' food all day, finally accepting their age and facing up to them having to take responsibility for Martin. Cute.

I'd have us safe in the knowledge that Guy would entangle someone else, and therefore that Caroline wouldn't 'just marry him in the end' like everyone thinks she is. I'm fed up of GW fics that just assume she'll go running to him after Mac dies. This whole 'he's part of the relatioonship' thing. I want Caroline to stand up against him and not just have him for a good click now and again.

I'd have Martin and Karen stay together & the same for Boyce and Kim.

I always thought that Caroline and Guy were better together to be honest...

I agree with Harriet33, they should have kept the second half of the second series lighter. It got to the stage where I would have to have my husband watch it first so I wouldn't get too many nasty surprises!

i didn't think that the 2nd series was as hilarious as the first. It was still funny but a bit more like a soap.

I wouldn't say 'soapy' - it just HAD to be more plot-based. You would've complained had they carried on series 2 without any reprecussions and resolutions of series one's climax or the willtheywon'tthey with Caroline and Mac...

It would also have made the entire show quite one-dimensional had they kept to exactly the same boundaries as series one in series two.
