i have just rewatced ep 8, im becoming increasingly angry with mac tbh! i know hes sweet lovely etc etc but all he does is build carolines hopes up, be really cruel to her, and then knows that by telling her what she wants to hear and kissing her, that she will forgive him and everything will be better! hes really quite mean! omg, i cant believe i just said that!

Well, supposing this theory about Mac's test results being false. He has just let his mate and the girl he loves go off together to get married. If he'd been straight with her from the start and stopped p*****g about then they'd be together, so he'll realise that the one good thing that he could of had in his life has now gone.

i dunno what it is, i used to love mac so much and always wanted caro to get with him, but i just dont see it anymore, maybe its the withdrawl symptons or something. he just seems like hes trying to get away with as much as he can from caro, and knows that she will take it

...and then there was the crack about the eyebrows...how truly awful was that?!

i honestly think hes trying to push Caro as far as he can for some reason unknown to me...it seems hes trying to push her away just because he knows he can get her back so easily, so shell want him even more

i think mac is very wary of letting anyone get close to him, because holly hurt him so much (maybe!). i still want mac and caro to get together, but it will break guy's heart, and he has been so nice lately!!
when guy said, "I love you Dr Todd" i think it was just the sweetest thing ever!!

but he knows Caro really likes him, she puts up with all his shenanigans and was there for him after the whole Holly buisness. i LOVE guy recently, he seems so genuine in the last few eps, when he walked through the smoke my legs went to jelly! PWOAR!

Oh, I'm so glad some other people didn't like Mac in that scene [new here, btw]. I really didn't find it fitted with his character - thanks for the Holly explanation, tiny bird woman - never thought of it, but 'tis convincing. Oh, but ... do you think he's going to be like this in the Xmas ep - to convince us of the Guy/Caroline thing - or will we see more wonderful Mac/Guy sparring over the lovely lady? Suggestions, consolations, please .... :-(

He seems to alternate between the once-in-a-lifetime romance (the railway moment completely won me over ... and that fantastic kiss where he tips her backwards ... wow) and rather boy-next-door bitchiness. i do agree that mac has been a bit off, but like i said on another thread 1)he's been in a coma 2)the former loove of his life reappered, who had aborted his child and, messed with his head 3) he discovered he had a son 4)discovered he didnt have a son....maybe im taking this a bit serious lol but just think iff all that had happened to you in the space of a few months! I would personally be really weary and afraid of anything else that could posibly hurt me.
Oh and if a guy said to me someting about my eyebrows id be a bit more confused than offended lol. I also think its alot nicer that Mac asked her to move in, its more realistic...marriage??? They aren't even properly together!

Woah, Woah, Woah people! Come on now… Let’s keep the faith. I can’t believe you’ve all been so harsh on poor Mac!! I agree he is somewhat emotionally immature, he would be the first to admit that – I’m thinking EP9 S1 CARO: “why do you have to turn everything into a joke?” MAC: “To avoid the real and very difficult issues most ADULTS have to face” – but for me, that’s part of his appeal.

I wasn’t surprised or offended at all by the eyebrows comment – in fact I found it really quite funny (!) and soooo Mac. Caroline had just told him a) that she’d snogged Guy more than once b) that she’d had 3 proposals and c) that she’s said yes, no and maybe – if I was Mac I’d be thinking “surely if her heart was totally loyal she wouldn’t have said maybe to Guy?!?!” Mac was just scared, poor man – so awkward and talking gibberish – nothing like the “cool” Mac we know and love. I thought that was REALLY romantic! To me it just demonstrated how much he cares about her – and he was so gonna propose until she interrupted him. I can’t believe you supposed Mac-lovers could be so mean!! That was Mac at his very best and now, I for one love him more than ever!!

I’d just like to add (sorry Guy-fans) that I think the whole “one woman guy” thing is nonsense. I find him really quite BORING! I loved him in S1 and early S2 but by the end I wanted to slap him.

I’m not actually sure whether Caroline deserves Mac anymore – or Guy for that matter. I’m thinking she should go off with “nice-boy” Jake; that way neither Mac nor Guy get hurt; Guy can become a loveable b*stard again and move in to a cool bachelor pad with Mac– that would be great for a new series (if there’s going to be one??)

Now I must sit and wait for the onslaught of angry CaroGuy fans…. Please be gentle as I am new!!

Ha ha! Thanks Spoon of Destiny. It needed to be said. I’ve been reading this forum for about a month and got sick of all the “Mac-bashing!” so I thought I’d join and put my penny’s worth in!

i know, ive been trying to put my point across too, think you did it slightly better though! it almost seems that people have completely forgotten what Mac has been through, and that he is suppose to suddenly forget it all!
Mac is a leg-end and caro and him have to be together, they're just too perfect!

i think mac was quite nasty on the bench. but what about caroline. at his house when he found out he was macenize father she couldnt get out there fast enought. mac practically beg her to stay. i no she was imbarrassed. but if someone you care about just found out he was a father and asked to to stay you would give him your support. everytime something happens to mac caroline runs. like when sue jumped out saying she was pregnant. she got up and left everyone no sue is crazy. she blame it on mac which it had nothing to do with him.

i have lost a baby and it is the worst thing i have ever been though and i have had some bad exsperience (they only make you stronger). which i couldnt do anything about. there is nothing i could of done or chanced which would of stoped it happening. but just because i am female doesnt mean it was any worst for me than if it was for my husband in someway it was worst for him. as he also lost the baby but he had put on a brave face to help me though it and he had to watch me cry when there was nothing he could relly do to make it better. while still going to work. and taking care of our daughter. boy i really put on him for a few weeks. anyway back to mac he was in a relationship with someone he loved very much. who desided to abort his baby with no care of his feeling then went on and got pregant straght after and kept the baby. that must real mess with your head. to not want a baby with you who you been with for 6 years and then keep one off someone you hardly no. also he has never talked to anyone about this. then to think she did have your baby and kept it from you for 4 years. then to kind out hes not your after you have bonded with that child. it must feel like you have lost a child again and still he had no one to talk to. it no wondering he has a problem with comitment. i am just surprized he doesnt hate women

traceygirl I’m sorry to hear about your loss. You’re totally right… Because Green Wing is such a random, comedy programme we forget that amongst all of Statham’s hilarious panic attacks and Guy’s ginger raps, Mac has gone through one hell of a tough time! I can’t think of a single nice thing that’s happened to him this series (well excluding the passionate kisses with Caroline). Mac’s trials and tribulations are worthy of a stint in Eastenders!! I think it’s down to the pure brilliance of the writing team that we all haven’t lost our will to live (they can make us laugh and cry all in one go!)

I totally agree with everything you say about Caroline as well. Every time, she runs off at the first hurdle… I said this earlier that I’m beginning to doubt whether they should get together although I think they have to – not just because it’s been on the cards for so long but also because one more bit of bad news for Mac (that’s providing he’s not dead of course!) would surely signal too much doom and gloom for such an innovative comedy series…
