Sorry to bring up the various theories again people, I know most are probably sick of them, but I've been re-watching Series 1 and have started to notice some things which I think might just support the 'Guy is Mackenzies father but doesn't know it' theory. Now does anyone remember in the second ever ep when Mac flashed his lovely bum to Caroline after she quite innocently told him that nothing had happened with Guy the night before? Well, I put forward that it wasn't just because he was annoyed after hearing about Holly from Angela, but because, he was getting deja vue from a similar situation with Holly from years ago. OK yes, I know it's a bit of a leap, but it does kinda make sense. Think about it, Mac and Guys tense, competetive friendship, him saying he knows what Guy is like and similar to Sue White in ep.7 (i think) and why he was so protective of Caroline whenever Guy seemed to be getting close to her in series 1, and why Mac threatened Guy not to sabotage their relationship in series 2. Imagine it, four years ago, Mac forgave Guy and Holly for their affair (being the lovely bloke that he is), and Guy never thought anything more about it, but when Holly discovered she was pregnant and that it wasn't Mac's, she dumped him and gave the excuse that she was going to have an abortion because it was in the way of her career?! I know it's a bit far out there, but seriously what do people think?
Yeah, I like... I'm definitely warming to the whole idea. Also, in S2 the way Guy's trying to impress Holly by sticking his hand in the toaster and trying to be better than Mac. But maybe that's just Guy being Guy?

True, but is it maybe possible that he knew her somehow anyway, but just didn't know they were together? I dunno, I just think that Mackenzie having black hair and Holly not telling Mac who the actual father was is too significant to be nothing...
I think Guy will give Caroline up because he knows she loves him more not because he gets found out doing something awful like having fathered mackenzie or faked Mac's results

Yeah it’s all very confusing coz I thought Guy knew Holly before – i.e. in S1 EP3 when Guy is winding up Mac about holly being pregnant he says about it being “one good looking baby” so he must know who she is.
Also am I right in thinking when they’re all in the pub in S2 she asks Guy what he’s been up to and he goes all funny about Joanna and spills the peanuts?? The way she’s talking to him makes it sound like they knew each other previously… But then like Montigue says Guy remarks that about not being able to imagine her with Mac so it’s all rather baffling.
I still hold out hope that Minimac is in fact Miniguy coz I think that would be really funny!
I think this is a good theory. When Mac asked who the dad was she went all timid and shook her head. It was like asking a child if they did something naughty. And what could be more naughty than fathering a baby to your best mate. Caroline would feel bad she picked Guy since he betrayed Mac by sleeping with Holly, then betrayed Mac by coming between him and Caroline.

I reckon the theory of Guy being the father is a good one, definitely. It certainly has weighty evidence (the fact Holly was so cagey about who the father was, the way Mac puts emphasis on the word “black”) – the writers could be giving us clues – or they could be red herrings! Who knows??
I don’t think Mac knows about it though if it did happen though as although he’s super-duper lovely I think even Mac would find it difficult to forgive Guy if he slept with his girlfriend of 6 years!! Also, the whole way he reacted to Holly in the first place proves that he can hold a grudge.
How do you think it will come out. Mini mac needs a kidney? Holly decides to make Mac happy and split Guy and Caroline up? Does she come to Angela's funeral with minimac and its clearly obvious now his fake hair has gone that he looks just like Guy?

surely if mac knows about the supposed affair, and has forgiven guy (cus he's so lovely), then wouldn't he be able to put 2 + 2 together to figure out that mini mac is guy's? to be honest i think even Guy cud figure it out right? wouldn't it be more likely to be a druken fumble on behalf of Guy's side, which Holly new about (and is therefore so secretive). And Mac found out that she slept with someone else, but doesn't know who.....do you see where i'm going?

I dont think Mac will know which is why it would hurt more. And IF he is dying/thinks that he is dying, what would be the point? Poor Mac.

By that I mean, Caroline will come along and be his friend, his soul mate and make him see that there's something worth living for. If he dies then that would be depressing I agree, having a heap of s**t laid upon you like that. But if he's not dying then at the end of the tunnel there a light (Caroline).

He spills the peanuts because Holly says how things all very incestuous. That's the key word there. If it turns out to be Guy's, so many things won't make sense and I have trust in the writers to maintain a certain amount of continuity/characterisation; Mac would not be as friendly towards Guy (even in their usual take-the-p1ss manner) if he believed he'd slept with his girlfriend and there was even the slightest possibility that he'd fathered a child with her - we've seen how angry he can get. And if people are assuming that Guy is an out and out t0ssp0t enough to do that, he wouldn't be able to resist rubbing in that possibility.

And someone else here pointed out that when Mac asks Holly who Mackenzie's father is, she says "It's a secret", which is pretty close to saying "It's a secret-an".
Well it must be someone mac knows well other wize why can't she tell him!
Mac: I'm assuming you've taken painkillers? Caroline: I want something stronger. I want the stuff you use... to kill people. Mac: Nope, saving all that for Guy.

Maybe Guy kept quiet. Fair enough he's competative and would probably brag but sometimes things can get way out of hand. Playing for an un-attatched girl may be one thing but waking up to your best friends bird is another. Maybe Holly begged him to keep quiet, maybe they had their own little love triangle except more secret. Also they have to work together, even more of a reason to keep quiet.

Surely then there would have been more tension between them in the one/two scenes in which they were alone together though?
