have just read the bumper edition of the christmas radio times and they had a tiny little interview with Victoria Pile saying that she is hopefully planning to do a Green Wing Spin off with some of the same actors...how amazing would that be????
"Is tonight's special the last ever Green Wing. "Never say never, but it is complicated getting nine actors together and filming in a working hospital, well, two actually - Basingstoke in Hampshire and Northwick Park in Harrow, Middlesex," says writer-producer Victoria Pile. Yet there's a ray of hope for the show's fans, "I'm hoping to do another Channel 4 comedy imminently, possibly starring some of the same cast. Hopefully, it will be some kind of spin-off from Green Wing," says Pile, who won an Emmy for the sketch show Smack the Pony."
that's great! but dont you just think that its gonna end up being the office girls or statham and joanna/boyce/martin? i just dont see it being caroline/mac/guy. although i love the other characters, it would be great if it was the main ones, but i think they'll probably want to move on to other roles.

i agree lovemac! although all the characters are sooooo hilarious it would be better to have the main characters. Also, alhtough a spin off would be good it would never live up to the original!
Hey! I have not been on the forum for a while but this is great news!! Great to hear this. I know people are not keen on spin-offs but Frasier is a good example of one doing well. Obviously, let's not bring 'Joey' up.....!
I for one would be keen to see any character of GW in any new series. At least this will make my Christmas less miserable (i.e. last ever GW episode!)
yes Frasier actually is a good example lol. and i suppose if there was a spin-off then it means that we'll definitely find out what happens to all of the characters since they couldnt keep it open if it was going to continue for some of the characters.

But are any of the characters strong enough to have their own show??
I know it worked for ‘Frasier’ but it didn’t work for ‘Joey’. The thing that’s so great about Green Wing is the variety of sketch-like storylines – some interweave, some don’t. But the characters and the actors who play them gel so nicely and I’m sure that’s what makes Green Wing so incredibly superior to most other comedy shows. I’m not saying I’m against it but I’m a little apprehensive as to how it will work. Maybe I’m just bitter because in my opinion they should be concentrating on writing a third series!! Hehe!
Ah well, perhaps after EP9 I won’t want one anyway…

I agree. I think Each individual character is a bold character, but it’s them all fitting together that works so well. You can see how certain characters bring out the best in another one, so I’m not really sure what to think about the idea of a spin-off at the moment…?
…………………………………………... Do you want to play with my slinky?
Good idea but they work well with each other - tbh I'm not sure I could handle a 'statham show' or 'just joanna' still want to see what could happen though

I know I’ve mentioned this before but how about a Randall and Hopkirk style spin off with Mac as the deceased making mischief for Guy and his fiancée Caroline??
hehe - that's a fantastic idea - that's definitely the kind of spin off that would work! Though I think it would be better if it was Guy that was dead: can you imagine how annoyed he'd get that most people couldn't see him..?

Very glad to be back home: both literally and spiritually
"Just because I feel sick everytime you come near me doesn't mean I'm not glad you're not dead!"
"walls, thermometers, it's an impossible choice. I'll just have to hope that when I flip the coin it somehow explodes and kills me!"
