Hi everyone i was just wondering how many males/females we have who visit this forum. I'm female (as you can probably guess from my name). I suspect that most of us are female, because of all the Mac and Guy love and by some of the names, but do we have any male fellow Greewnwingers who visit this forum?
There was an earlier thread about this, and there were only a couple of responses from guys and they weren't regular addicts like the rest of us in this asylum
I'm a girl. My husband likes Green wing too but thinks I'm a bit sad for being on this forum (he then seems to spend all his time reading over my shoulder though so I reckon hes just jealous that he can't get to the computer to have a go himself!)
I don't know its an impossible choice, i'll just have to hope that when I flip the coin it somehow explodes and kills me.

Oh i must've missed that thread, sorry guys for starting one that's already been done.
It must just be us females then that obsess totally over things, LOL!
I'm definitely female despite having been a fire fighter and riding a motorbike! My boyfriend doesn't really mind me being obsessed by Green Wing the programme even though he is still resisting it's genius - it's the following of JRT and Tamsin's careers which annoys him oh well he doesn't like sport and he's afraid of my bike so his opinion doesn't really count
Mac: Are you lost or mis-placed? Caroline: Too early to tell. I think I'm probably just mis-placed. Mac: I wanted you to know if I was to mislay anything that was extremely important to me then I would probably rush down to the lost property office as soon as possible. Caroline: Even if it was shut? Mac: Even if it was shut. Even if it was in the middle of the b****y night - I'd go down there and bang on the doors.
yeh i started that topic, only like 5 guys answered, I think it's a show too full of characters for girls too lust over! I'm not complaining btw.

“Come on guys… You know we don’t play British Bulldog in theatre, yeah? If you want to mess around, b*gger off back to A and E.”
Do I look like a mug? Do I have a handle? Am I made of china? Am I kept in a cupboard or on a small wooden tree? Would you LIKE to put your lips on my rim? You may answer that question.. the others were rhetorical.
I think that this is really interesting. Leaving aside the charms of the men in GW (reluctantly, and I'll be back soon), how many comedies have women obsessively quoting lines at each other? Isn't that usually a man thing (eg Monty Python), or have times changed since I was a young'un?
I always quoted Month Python, Fawlty Towers, The Office and now Green Wing.... I wondered why only the blokes laughed!
I'll have to wait for the boyfriend to come home and get a second opinion

I think there have been a few recently that me and my mates quote at each other over the last few years, black books, spaced and father ted mainly. Most of my friends however haven't picked up on green wing hence the need to speak to kindred spirits on t'interweb! I'm on a mission to change their minds though.

In fact i dont know any men that do watch it. I find GW is one of them things you either love or hate, like Marmite (LOL), so maybe it just draws more of a female audience. A lot of people think it's Brittain's answer to 'Scrubs' but it totally isn't, it's in a league of its own.
I know a few guys who watch GW but they would never get on a forum like this to discuss it. In fact it was the boyfriend who introduced me to GW. I think he's sorry now as he calls it my latest obsession!
This is an interesting thread! As the last remaining guy here I just had to chip in.
I've posted a few times in the various GW threads but I've been reading loads - I've found it an educational insight into the female mind! It's very interesting to read what you like and dislike about guys.
It's also nice sharing a forum with a bunch of sex crazed babes, I have to say! Whatever the female equivalent of testosterone is, I can almost sense it here!
In particular I've found the posts here really nice because I'm actually a Mac type (not just saying that lol). I'm a few years older than him but similar build, although taller, and same type of personality and hair colour.
I never really thought my appearance was that attractive to many females (although I've had my moments!) as I thought that the likes of Guy and Boyce were more traditionally attractive.
Yet I come here and find loads of you drooling at Mac like animals (fantastic!). So it's been a pleasant eye opener for me. Nice to see that so many of you appreciate the older man too lol.
I also like the way you talk to each other here - on more male dominated boards there is a tendency to swear and try and do the other person down, yet here you are all so polite and you always give the other person time to make their point.
It's also amazing to find out how young the majority of people here actually are, you all post with so much maturity and insight! I think it's fair to say that the stories we read in the papers about schools dumbing down etc are not true, judging from what I read here.
It's interesting that so many females really like Green Wing. I agree with previous posters who say that it's normally a male thing to obsess about a comedy show and quote catch phrases etc.
Obviously with GW many females like the male actors, but I think the show has been very clever in creating a comedy which also creates real characters and real relationships on a very deep level, otherwise people would never have got so emotionally involved with it. Those final scenes of episode eight were superb. Who'd have thought that would come out of a 'whacky' comedy show?
I'm sure as many guys like the show as females, but maybe it's that emotional depth that has really struck a chord with females and made them want to talk about it, whereas most guys have moved on to the next thing?
One of the main reasons I like it is the Mac/Guy relationship - this was so much like a friendship I had with a mate some years ago. I also like the general silliness and the absolute filthiness too! The music also was utterly brilliant.
Anyway, I shall keep checking out the forum and keeping up to date with all the news and theories. Roll on October for the final episode!
I'm female and often quote Monty Python, Spaced and of course Green wing, which drives both family and friends mad. Also, like most of u guys (or in this case gals (mostly), have already posted, I think that green wing is so appealing to women not only for the beautiful male cast members, but also the emotional depth and romantic storylines and the fact that the women characters are just as funny as the male characters, as sometimes in other comedies the male ones are given more dominance.

that would be oestrogen! you can almost smell it in the air....
actually, i think it might be odourless?!?
i quote monty python. i can't think of a single person with a sense of humour who can't!

I always watch GW with my Dad, but different elements appeal to us. Whereas I love the romancy type bits and love love LOVE Mac, my Dad's favoiurite bits are mostly Alan (I think he sees himself!). I think that this shows that GW appeals to a wide audience because of it's basis in REAL characters and genuinly funny situations.
