I think your tastes in booze change as you get older. When I first drank I only liked sweet wine and spirits like Malibu and Archers. Now I cant tolerate those and love the dry drinks like gin and red wine. I love a nice glass (or bottle) of Shiraz or Cab sav. I shared a great bottle of wine from New Zealand with my husband at a restaurant a couple of weeks ago too. To be honest though I will drink most beverages , Cidar is great on a sunny day as is beer. I dont have a drink problem I promise...

I think you are probably right Jemma. I think you drink things like cider and black, malibu and coke etc when you are young because they taste nice and you haven't developed your alcohol head yet. Then you make yourself ill on them and move onto beer and occasional spirits such as southern comfort, baileys, tequila and things you can set fire to (such as sambuka!) By the time you leave uni you have probably been ill on all of these more than once and then there is the lovely GIN and RED WINE to help you forget them

Alcohol is definitely an acquired taste, but I'm so glad I've acquired it (although I haven't had a drink since January!) When I was younger I drank what everyone else drank but didn;t enjoy it, I started out on diamond white and lambrini but I can't bear those now. I like a nice pint of lager, I like the fact that my body can;t actually fit enough of the liquid in to get me ridiculously drunk!
I don't know its an impossible choice, i'll just have to hope that when I flip the coin it somehow explodes and kills me.

More than once , Pah! I did fine Art at uni so I spent most of my time going to private views and getting hammered on free booze then moving on to the student union bar for tequilas. You have the measure of me Queen Sue

Sorry Radio Tam, can't stand southern comfort, it's one of the few drinks that I dislike all for its self, i've never had enough of it to get drunk
Southern Comfort makes me think of “potent” old men but that’s only based on one specific case when I worked in country pub one summer… However, "waste not, want not" - I'd be happy to join Tam in a Southern Comfort swilling session if the weather permits
