SCENE - AN ENGINEERING WORKSHOP. DAVE IS AT A MACHINE, ON A TRICKY BIT. LOFTY WALKS IN.
DAVE - Look mate, there's a sign on the door, dangerous machinery.
LOFTY - Flopping 'eck lad. I'm 86. I've seen a bit of danger in my time. I'll not interrupt. What are you doing then?
DAVE - I'm just re-aligning this spline-shaft.
LOFTY - Flopping 'eck lad, I've done a few of those. What's this then?
DAVE - Don't touch that, it's all set up.
LOFTY - Calm down lad, I'm just looking.
DAVE - Look, I must get on, this is a bit of a rush job.
LOFTY - Well I'll not interrupt.
LOFTY STANDS WATCHING WITH HIS ARMS FOLDED.
DAVE - Look, I'm sorry, I can't work while I'm being watched.
LOFTY - Flopping 'eck lad, you'll mot notice me back here.
DAVE - Well alright, but I'm on a bit of a tricky bit.
LOFTY - What's this then?
DAVE - It's the digital read-out.
LOFTY - What do you want that for?
DAVE - Look, please, I must get on with this. It's a rush job.
LOFTY - Flopping 'eck lad, I'll not interrupt.
DAVE CARRIES ON WORKING
LOFTY - So what are you doing now?
DAVE - I'm trying to re-align these spline shafts.
LOFTY - Oh.
DAVE TRIES TO CARRY ON.
LOFTY - So what's that bit for then?
DAVE - Look, I can't concentrate with you in here.
LOFTY - No need to be like that lad. I'm 86. I'll not interrupt.
DAVE SIGHS AND CARRIES ON WORKING.
LOFTY - So now what you doing lad?
DAVE SIGHS AND GRITS HIS TEETH, THEN A BIT OF MACHINERY CATCHES HIM AND DRAGS HIM IN THE MACHINE. HIS ARM IS TRAPPED, BLOOD IS SQUIRTING EVERYWHERE AND HE IS SCREAMING FOR HELP.
LOFTY - Flopping 'eck lad. I'm 86. I can't stand here all day talking to you.
LOFTY WALKS OUT. DAVE SCREAMS AND EVEN MORE BLOOD SQUIRTS OUT.
