Kris' POV
Pulling everything out my bag, I keep on particular item hidden from Jess. I don't want her to see it just yet. One because it would totally ruin everything and two, i've not even thought about it properly yet.
"What?" Jess asks, breaking me from my daze. "Kris seriously what is it?"
"You've got something on your cheek..."
"What?" She panics, trying to brush it off as I laugh. "Has it gone?"
"No, come here?"
Shuffling over from my spot on the grass, I carefully wipe the mark off her face. It wasn't that clear to see but knowing Jess, if she saw it and knew I didn't tell her about it she'd freak out.
"Gone now?" She asks, still rubbing her cheek as if not to believe me.
"Yeah, it was only a mark Jess..."
"Well it's horrible, i'm surprised you told me.."
"Oh you're still a snob aren't you?" I laugh and get whacked with her hand.
"Snob?"
"Yeah, you always were back at College. Always the best for Jessica Harris..."
"You were only jealous." She says sticking her tongue out in response.
"Of you?"
"Yeah, admit it." She says challenging me.
"Well you had it all Jess, who wouldn't be jealous of you?"
"It wasn't so special at times you know?" She says, lying down to look at the clouds. "...Sometimes i'd hate it."
"What having lots of money?"
"Not being happy.." She says sadly as I lie next to her. "It didn't always make me happy you know?"
"Why, I thought you loved going out and getting all the latest stuff? You'd certainly come back and show it off..."
"Yeah?...Well I never had anyone to impress did I?"
"Hey?" I say softly as I reach down to clasp her hand with mine. "You have now."
"Thanks." She giggles and turns to me.
"Anyway, even at College you still impressed me."
"Really?"
"What, didn't you know?" I ask, kissing her hand. "I always loved you and that was way before I admitted it too."
"Well since we're being honest...?" She says slowly.
"Go on...?"
"I thought you were the most aggrivating man on this planet when we first met."
"Thanks very much!"
"You'll be happy to know I don't think that now..."
"Definately. So how do you feel now then?"
"Well it's different..." She smiles. "...I love you now."
"Something which i'll never tire of hearing."
Resting my head back down next to hers, I place my hand over her waist and pull her closer. We don't talk for a short while, and in that time we watch the clouds floating by. It's simple and we aren't doing all that much but I can tell it means alot to us both, to be here like this and be away from everyone else. It's been hard for us and we've probably had to go through the most painful and hurtful experience anyone can go through but we're getting there and we're doing it together. It's a struggle, of course it is but when you have someone to help you through it, it just makes things that little bit easier.
"This is nice.."
"I still can't get used to the fact that you of all people think this is 'nice'..."
"It's the simple things that count." She says, sitting herself up. "Anyway, you're good at this."
"Told you...picnic in a park was my special.."
"Do it a lot do you?"
"Oh yeah, i'm always bringing girls here....You're the first.."
"So how do you know you're so great at it then?"
"I'm great at alot of things..." I say, smiling slighty. "...I've not had any complaints."
"Well you've done nothing that's made me want to complain...yet."
"Give it time." I joke, standing to my feet. "Looks like rain is on it's way..."
"What?" She panics, sitting herself up. "I haven't got a jacket, Kris i'll get soaked!"
"Easy Princess, here take this." I hand her my jacket whilst I pack our things.
"And what about you?"
"Don't worry about me, i'll survive a bit of rain...unlike you!"
"Well it makes my hair go funny.."
"You seriously haven't changed a bit have you?" I laugh and take her hand. "Such a snob."
"Hey, a snob that you love."
"Ofcourse. Come on before you really have a breakdown about the weather!"
Half an hour it takes for us to get back, we got caught in most of the rain and as Jess managed to do well to keep herself even half dry, i'm soaked. So as we get inside, I grab a towel and run it through my hair.
"I'm going for a shower, you care to see if i'm good at that to?" I ask, flashing a cheeky grin.
"I'm going to call Zoe first....you go, i'll meet you in there.."
"Don't be long." I say, kissing her gently.
After she tells me she'll be ten minutes, I walk off to the bathroom alone and leave her to call Zoe.
