“Mummy can we go feed the ducks in the park?”
“We’ve got to go to nanny and granddads Ol.” She told him wearily thinking that he was going to be in a huff but surprisingly he didn’t he was excited about going. It wasn’t that often that he got to go over to his grandparent’s house because Alan was usually too busy working and Sandra spent most of her time at their house back in London, making the occasional weekend visit to Chester to spend time with her family if her husband didn’t make it back to her. “Go get your coat and that”
“Oooooh a holiday. Yay.” He shouted happily but they were only taking a ten minute trip in a taxi and Jess explained it to him but he still got excited. “Will Dipsy be there?” he asked, and Jess laughed. She’d never seen Ollie so playful except when her mum and dad’s dog was about. He loved it like his own and Jess had even threatened to steal it so that he’d always have something to entertain him.
“Of course she will, nanny Sandra won’t come here without her.”
“Can we take her for a walk?”
“I think you might be allowed, now come on coat and shoes on” she told him and he raced into the hall and jumped up for his coat, just managing to get it down without pulling the rest of them down with it. Excitedly he pulled his coat on, but in his hurry ended up with it upside down, which just made him go all stroppy especially when Jess stood laughing at him. “Do you want some help sweetie?”
“No” he huffed throwing his coat to the floor and stamping on it. “It’s silly, I don’t want to go now.”
“Well whether you want to or not you’re going.” She informed him and he sat with his back against the wall, his knees pulled up to his chin and his arms folded crossly on the top of them. “Oliver Fisher, get your backside up off that floor right now.” Jess said trying to get authoritative with him but he just laughed at her. He’d never heard her sound so silly and told her so too. “Never mind me sounding silly, come on get up. I told my mummy that her favourite grandson was going to visit so come on, I’ll help you with your shoes and coat.”
Twenty minutes later Jess and Oliver were stood outside her mum and dad’s house, waiting for Sandra to open the door. Usually Jess would be able to walk straight in but the door was securely locked and she didn’t have her keys on her. After a few minutes of not getting an answer Jess pulled out her mobile and rang her mum to see where she was only to be told that there’d been a change of plan and she wasn’t in Chester at all, she was held up in London with the other company. Feeling annoyed Jess ended the call and shoved her phone back in her bag, and led Ollie off in the direction of their house again.
“Can we go to the park now?”
“We haven’t got anything to feed the ducks with honey”
“But I want to play on the swings.”
“Another time, lets go to the shops instead, buy some sweets and something nice for dinner.” She suggested but he really wasn’t happy and once again felt it necessary to throw one of his tantrums in order to get what he wanted. “Stop being naughty otherwise I’ll take you to the naughty boys home” she said instantly feeling guilty for saying it, but she didn’t know how else to stop him from being horrible. He’d wrapped her round his little finger for so long and he had to stop. He couldn’t get his all of his own way for much longer; he had to learn that she and his dad had other things to do apart from spending every last penny on him.
“I want the swings” he said totally ignoring what his mum had said about the home, and lay on the floor kicking and screaming.
“Ollie get up please, you look like a big baby down there. I bet Steven would laugh at you if he was here.” She told him and he instantly jumped up and looked around just to make sure Steven wasn’t there. “Right now let’s go to the shops, and then we can go home or we can go see Zoe.”
“Will Steven be there?”
“I don’t know, he stayed at his dad’s last night so…” she tried to explain to him but he cut her off, saying that he didn’t want to go see Zoe if he had nothing to do.

Erm Ollie is a total brat btw, just to let Jess know It's about time she let him know that she's the parent and he is the child, even though I completely despised when my mum and dad said that to me!

Lucy had just arrived at Zak’s and had been allowed in much to Steven’s dismay as he knew he was going to get shouted at for breaking her sunglasses. She walked into the living room followed by Zak and smiled sweetly a Steven who was curled up watching his cartoons again. He didn’t utter a single word to her, all of his cheekiness had faded away and was replaced with fear.
“Hiya Steven, I’ve brought you a little present” she said but he kept his eyes on the TV. “What happened to the little boy I seen last night, he was full of himself eh?” she asked and still he just sat there.
“Say hello Steven.” Zak told him and he smiled nervously.
“Have I done something to upset him, apart from try and steal his daddy while they were watching cartoons?” she asked Zak and he told her that it had nothing to do with last night, and pulled her through into the kitchen out of the way. “Desperate to get me alone…” she grinned pulling him closer to him and kissing him lightly, draping her arms across his shoulders and smiling but he pulled himself back from her slightly. “Don’t say you’re going to get all silent on me too.”
“No, nothing like that. Steven had a little accident this morning, and he’s worried in case you shout at him for it.”
“Why would I shout at him, he’s not my son to shout at.”
“He broke your sunglasses.”
“Oh is that all? I need some new ones anyway now I have the excuse.” She told him and Zak smiled at her, she was being totally calm and reasonable. “Maybe I should go tell him I’m not mad.” She said removing her arms from around Zak and walking back into the living room. She sat down on the sofa beside Steven and he pulled his legs even closer to his body as though he was cuddling them, he was really quite scared and wished he hadn’t been so naughty. “Are you ok little man?” she asked and he shook his head, and began to cry.
“It w-w-was a a-ac-accident”
“Don’t cry its fine. I shouldn’t have left them lying about for you to break.” She explained and held her arms out to give him a hug but he didn’t move, so she did just to show him that she wasn’t angry at all. “I still have that present for you, do you want it?” she asked him and she felt him nodding his head. Releasing him from her grip she went into her bag and pulled out a small parcel, which soon put the smile back on his face. “I hope you like it.” She said and judging by his response. “I didn’t know if you had that one but you can have a spare.”
“Thank you” he beamed forgetting all about the fact that he had been crying just seconds ago. “Daddy look what Lucy buyed me” he said racing through to his dad with his new toy in his hand.
“Wow I hope you said thank you.” Zak said and Steven nodded and began crawling about the floor pushing his new Rory figure along the floor, making the noises to go with it.



I just couldn't make Lucy out to be horrible, I tried but it didn't go right. lol

Oh for goodness sake Kay grow some backbone! I refuse to like Lucy She seems likeable but I feel too bad for Zoe to be happy for her and Zak!

“I missed you baby”
“I missed you too mummy” Steven replied hugging Zoe tightly as she carried him into the house with Zak behind them.
“Did you have fun with your dad?” she asked him walking into the living room, and Steven nodded in response telling her all that they’d watch the cartoons and he laughed as he told her how his dad had thought the cartoons were real. “Oh he is a silly Billy isn’t he.” She said and again Steven nodded and stuck his tongue out at his dad. Zoe smiled at Zak, it took about all she had but she managed it and he smiled back, he also felt a bit uncomfortable which he thought was stupid considering how much they’d been through together in the past.
“Can I have a quick word with you Zo?”
“I guess so, I won’t be a minute baby” she said putting Steven down on the sofa. She knew that she shouldn't carry him because he was more than big enough to walk but every now and then something hit her and made her realise just how quick he was growing up. She was just pleased that he wasn't any bigger because the moments they shared together like that would be non existent and her little boy wouldn't actually be her little boy at all.
Leaving their son in the living room they stepped into the kitchen and silence took over once again. After a few minutes of waiting for him to say something to her Zoe spoke, she was getting rather impatient at the fact he’d asked for a word and then stood in complete silence with one of his stupid looks on his face. A look that she would’ve thought was cute before, but now annoyed the hell out of her. “This gets old really fast you know Zak.”
“Eh?”
“You asking to talk and then standing like a plum. What did you want?”
“It’s about Steven and Oliver; I don’t think they should spend as much time together, Oliver’s a bad influence on him. Steven was really cheeky to Lucy last night.” He explained and Zoe just stood laughing at him. Steven was a 5yr old child of course he was going to be cheeky, it wasn’t really something he did all of the time but it was to be expected and the fact that Zak wanted her to stop their son from seeing his friends was just not going to happen at all. Steven needed friends, it was a important part of his development especially at his age and no matter what Zak said things weren’t going to change. “Its not funny Zo”
“No you’re right it’s not, it’s pathetic Zak, you’re being ridiculous. He’s a child for god’s sake, kids answer back all of the time, it’s nothing new and as long as there’re kids about things won’t change..”
“So when he’s cheeky to you let him get away with it?”
“No…” she started but he cut her off by telling her that he was right but there wasn’t a hope in hells chance that the conversation was over. “Listen to me I’m not stopping him from spending time with friends, and if your girlfriend wasn’t such a pain…”
“I’m not getting into this again, Zoe. It’s pointless when you’re like this. Just because you don’t like Lu-”
“Understatement of the century” she muttered under her breath and Zak glared at her saying that it didn’t matter how much she hated Lucy, there was no way she was going to encourage Steven to be cheeky to her. It wasn’t fair, and he wouldn’t do that if Zoe had a new boyfriend. It was childish. Zoe stood there rolling her eyes, arms folded and head tilted up towards the ceiling, while her foot tapped away showing she was growing impatient with him again. Once he’d shut up she opened her mouth to stop him from going again cos it felt like he was only catching his breath before setting off on another rant about his ever so adorably innocent girlfriend. “If you don’t mind I have to get back to my son.” She said pushing past him and back through to the living room where Steven was sat playing with his present from Lucy. “Say goodbye to your daddy, he’s got to go now.”
“Bye daddy.” Steven waved not really looking up at him, his car was far more entertaining. Zak told him he’d pick him up another time and they could have another boys night. “Ok, bye daddy” he said again and Zak seen himself out.

Zak is being a complete idiot! Although I have to admit I do agree with him about Oliver and Steven spending too much time together.
