Hannah woke up and immediately ran to the place she went every morning- in front of the mirror. She lifted up her top, pressed her hands on her stomach and sighed.

Nope, still as fat and ugly as ever.

She sat back down on the end of her bed. Why did she keep giving in? Why did she keep letting herself down all the time? Because she was weak. That was it. She wished she could be more like Melissa. She was so strong willed and independant. No wonder she was such a successful model. She would get places. Hannah couldn't, not whilst she was a fat, weak and pathetic excuse for a woman. It was time to change.

Her eyes lit up as her phone rang. She eagerly picked it up, but her smile faded as she saw who's name was on the screen.

Gilly.

Why wouldn't he leave her alone? He was so stupid, it was unbelievable.

Gilly waited impatiently for Hannah to pick up, growing more worried by the second. He knew something was up, he just couldn't put his finger on what it was. She'd changed. No longer was she fun, bubbly and pleasant to be with, but lately she'd been moody, rude and intolerant. She was becoming more and more like that Melissa girl every day, and she couldn't even see it.

Gilly: Hannah, it's me, Gilly. I know something's up... look, please just ring me back when you get this message.

He sighed and placed his phone back down upon the table. He decided he'd wait another half hour before he went round there. The last thing he wanted was a repeat of last time.

Hannah clenched onto her stomach as it rumbled and ached. She longed for something to eat, anything, anything at all...

Panicking, she picked up her phone and began texting Melissa.

Please come round to mine as soon as you can. I don't know if I can do this.

She breathed in and out slowly, trying to calm herself down for when she met up with Melissa. If she saw her like this, she might give up on her all together.

She jnearly jumped out of her skin as she heard a knock at the door. She couldn't be here yet... surely...?

She raced down the stairs and opened the door, only to face disappointment.

Hannah: What are you doing here?

Gilly: Nice to see you too.

Hannah: Seriously, just go home Gilly. You're not wanted here.

That last sentence hurt Gilly more than he'd expected. But he couldn't give up, nevertheless.

Gilly: I just popped round to see if you were alright.

Hannah: And why wouldn't I be?

Gilly: You... you just haven't seemed yourself lately and-

Hannah: I'm fine! How many times do I have to say it to make it sink into your thick head!

Gilly: Hey, there's no need to get nasty, I just wanted to help.

Hannah: Well if I needed your help I would have asked for it, wouldn't I? And as far as I can remember, I've never asked you for help, so you can leave right now.

Gilly was about to argue back, when he was stopped by a familiar, whining voice coming from behind him.

Melissa: You heard her. Or are you deaf as well as stupid?

Gilly sighed and gave up. He had no chance whilst she was there.

Gilly: Look, Hannah... just ring me if you need anything, yeah?

A grateful smile nearly crossed Hannah's face, until Melissa prodded her arm.

Melissa: She won't.

Gilly looked back at the house. A light turned on in Hannah's room. He wondered what it was they spent so much time on. He shook his head, and headed over to the Dog. All that thinking made his head hurt.

Hannah: So, even [I]diet[I] coke is bad?

Melissa: Eurgh, a friend of mine was fooled by that label, and didn't drink anything but Diet Coke for 6 months.

Hannah: What happened to her?

Melissa: She gained 13 pounds.

Hannah gasped in horror.

Hannah: So, what can we drink?

Melissa: Water.

Hannah: And that's it?

Melissa: Unless you want to gain 13 pounds, then yes, that's it.

Hannah gasped again as she remembered something.

Hannah: Oh no...

Melissa: What? What is it?

Hannah: Yesterday.. at the Dog... I..

Melissa: What did you do?

Hannah: I had a Diet coke.

Melissa: How much?

Hannah: 250ml.

Melissa: Well, I think that calls for another trip to the bathroom, don't you?

Hannah nodded, knowing what had to be done.

Melissa: Who was that?

Hannah: Sarah. She wants us to meet her in the Dog at 4.

Melissa: What time is it now?

Hannah: Quarter to.

Melissa sighed.

Melissa: Well, maybe we do need a change of setting.

Hannah: Yeah, I hate being cooped up in here all the time. Shall we set off then?

Melissa: Hold on.

Hannah: What?

Melissa: Don't you think you should... never mind.

Hannah: Tell me. What is it?

Melissa: I was just going to suggest a different outfit. You're not quite... there yet. You're not quite ready to wear something that figure hugging.

Hannah: Oh, if you say so.

Melissa opened Hannah's wardrobe and began rummaging through her clothes, whilst Hannah smoothed her dress down in front of the mirror, observing every angle. Melissa was right. She did look horrible in that dress. She was so glad she had a friend like her. Nancy and Sarah would never be that honest. She dreaded to think of the number of times she'd gone out looking disgusting without them saying a word. They probably only kept their mouths shut so they could look even better, in comparison to her.

Melissa: Ah, here we go!

She pulled out a loose, floaty top and a pair of wide, blue trousers.

Hannah smiled.

Hannah: Thanks.

Melissa: For what?

Hannah: For being honest. You're the only person that's ever been really truthful with me and I really appreciate it...

She couldn't help but break down in tears.

Melissa: Hey, it's fine. Stop crying, you'll ruin that eyeliner I spent hours applying for you. You don't want Sarah, Craig and JP to see you like this, do you?

Hannah shook her head.

Melissa: And really, there's no need to thank me. I just couldn't let you walk out looking like you did, it would have been cruel.

Hannah nodded, and wiped her eyes.

Melissa: Shall we go then?

Hannah: Yeah, ok.

He stopped and turned around as Hannah and Melissa walked in.

Hannah: Oh, so not only are you satisfied with sticking your nose into my business, but you also feel the need to discuss your stupid little theories with your drinking buddies.

Gilly: It's not like that Hannah, I'm just concerned for you-

Hannah: You know what, I don't have to listen to this-

Sarah: Hannah, what's going on?

Both Hannah and Melissa glared at Gilly.

Hannah: Nothing. C'mon, let's go outside.

They all sat down at a table outside.

Sarah: What happened back there?

Hannah: I told you, it was nothing. Can we change the subject?

Sarah: Ok fine. Melissa, you heard anything from that Paul Walker guy?

Melissa: No, but I'd leave it another few days. He's bound to call at least one of us back.

Hannah looked down at the ground, wishing she could be a part of their conversation. She began to regret meeting up with them. When Sarah and Melissa talked about their modelling, she couldn't help but be overwhelmed with jealousy.

Sarah: Hannah, are you alright?

Hannah looked up, feeling ill and looking pale.

Melissa: She's fine, she was just feeling a little peaky earlier.

Sarah: Hannah?

Hannah: I'm fine! Why does everyone keep interfering?

Sarah: I wasn't interfering Hannah, you just didn't look well.

Hannah: I'm fine, and that's all you need to know. Now, what drinks are we having?

JP: I'll have a Coke.

Craig: I think I'll have the same.

Sarah: Same here. No, actually, you'd better make that a Diet Coke.

A disgusted expression crossed Melissa's face.

Hannah: Ok, I'll go get them.

She needed any excuse to get away from all that modelling talk, and Sarahs constant questioning.

Hannah got up a little too quickly, and gripped onto the edge of the table to stop herself from falling.

Sarah: Are you sure you're alright?

Hannah: Yes! I'm fine! How many times do I have to tell you? Look at me, I've never felt better! Now just drop it, will you?

Sarah: Alright, calm down.

Melissa: Yeah, just chill Hannah.

Hannah turned her back on them as she walked back into the Dog, fuming. A dizzy feeling came over her again as soon as she stepped inside, but this time she had nothing to grip onto.
Without warning, she collapsed in the doorway. Gilly turned around and saw her lying there, and his heart began to race with panic. He knelt down beside her and held up her head.

Gilly: Someone help!

Sarah, Craig, JP and Melissa all swivelled round as soon as they heard Gilly's call for help. Melissa got to her first and shoved Gilly out of the way, then poured her glass of water over Hannah's head. She spluttered and awoke suddenly, feeling dazed and confused.

Sarah: Hey, what did you do that for?

Melissa: Well no-one else was doing anything to help, I had to do something!

Sarah scowled at Melissa then moved her attention back to Hannah.

Sarah: Hannah, can you hear me?

Hannah: Yeah... what happened?

Sarah: You collapsed, Han.

Melissa: She's just tired, we stayed up late last night. I'll take her back home.

She tried lifting Hannah up, but her efforts were in vain, her muscles ached enough already, let alone when she was trying to lift 7 stone on a hot day.

JP: Here, let me help.

He picked Hannah up with a suprising amount of ease. He didn't remember her being this light when he picked her up out of the river 6 months ago.

Gilly: Do you want me to go with you, in case you need another pair of hands?

JP: No, it's fine Gilly, really. I can handle it.

Gilly nodded and went back to the bar, but didn't take his eye of Hannah for one single second until she was outside.

Melissa: Hold on, I'm coming too!

Melissa ran after JP and Hannah, leaving Sarah wondering whether she should follow as well.

Sarah: Maybe I should go too, I mean, she is my best friend and all...

Craig: Nah, you'd be better staying here. The last thing Hannah probably wants right now is a load of people crowding round her.

Sarah reluctantly agreed, and they went back to their table to finish their drinks.

JP placed Hannah down onto her bed, ignoring Melissa's constant whingeing about how he shouldn't be in her room and that he should leave them both alone.

JP: Just shut up and go get her a glass of water, alright?

Melissa shot JP an evil look but reluctantly did as he'd asked, and stormed off downstairs.

Hannah's eyes opened again, and she smiled as her sight was filled with JP'S big blue eyes. She lost herself for a moment. It was like she was back in his arms, like the last few months hadn't happened. At that moment, she couldn't have loved anyone more.
