Rock and Roll

Kris whisked Jess of to a quieter, more authentic Spanish bar and ordered them both a bite to eat and a drink. He paid, then made his way to the toilet, leaving Jess alone at the bar. It didn’t take long for Jess to catch someone’s eye and before long the man had made his way over to Jess, just as Kris left the toilets.

Something inside of him sank as he saw Jess chatting away happily to the man. Kris sighed and contemplating just running out of the bar and leaving Jess to do what she wanted. But no, he decided he’d be strong - he was better than that. Like Jess had said - no engagement and no wedding. With his head held high, Kris prepared his ‘it’s a free country do what you like’ speech and made his way over to Jess, just in time to catch her conversation.

“ . .Well it’s awfully nice of you, but I’m sorry. I’m taken”
“My mistake miss. I’ll let you alone then”

Jess smiled at the man and gave him a little wave as he walked off. Kris appeared behind Jess, his body internally lightened from the conversation he had just heard. He sprang up behind Jess placing his hands on her shoulders.

“Taken, are we?”, Kris said grinning at Jess
“Well, what else am I exactly meant to say?!”, Jess laughed, “Sorry I can’t flirt with you because I’m kind of with this guy who I live with, who isn’t my partner but is my temporary boyfriend for the remainder of my week in Ibiza. I mean come on, that’s a bit of a mouthful!”

Kris laughed and placed a friendly arm around Jess shoulders. Things couldn’t have been better.

Rhythm Of The Night.

The majority of the evening was spent either in deep conversation, or on the dance floor, the two of them enjoying being in the other’s company. It was a far stretch from how they behaved back in Hollyoaks; constantly sniping and insulting each other, not giving the other the time of day. But here it was different.

They spoke about themselves and learnt so many things about each other. They spoke about Zoe and Zak, the other residents of Hollyoaks and their families. Then, when they finally ran out of things to talk about, Jess led Kris to the dance floor, her hand enclosed in his. The feel in the club was more mellow and they danced close to one another. Jess’ arms were wrapped around Kris’ waist whilst Kris’ arms lay gently on top of Jess’ shoulders. Their chests hovered close together, and Jess could feel Kris breathing lightly close to her ear. They slowly moved as one for the rest of the night, feeling somewhat timeless as the minutes slipped by unnoticed.

It was only when the owner of the pub ushered them out claiming it was closing time that they realised just how long they had spent together. They walked back to the hotel, hand in hand, feeling special as the stars shone down on them.
