Will lent back on the chair smiling – he was finally getting out. He’d spent the past 18 months rotting away in prison and finally he was going to be free. He had changed though. When he had gone in he had been twisted inside – he had fun stirring things up and the bigger the trouble he caused, the more pleasure he got. But spending day in and day out staring at a grey wall had made him realised that life shouldn’t be wasted and that he shouldn’t have caused all his friends so much grief because all it had done was left him cold, bitter and lonely. He had a plan that would hopefully get everyone to understand, or at least start to forgive him. He needed everyone to be together so that he could apologise for all the hurt he had caused to Zoë, Jess, Kris, Zack, Elliot and the others…

Zoë sighed looking at her hands. After leaving college she thought it would have been easy finding a job but when it came to it she was struggling to find a job where she could do what she enjoyed and be paid well. Over the past year she had worked in so many places she couldn’t remember some of them. She’d either been fired or had to quit because she wasn’t paid well enough or she couldn’t stand working there. She wished something easy would come her way. She opened the local paper and went straight to the jobs page but as she flicked through she spotted someone’s name that she hadn’t thought about in a long time: William Hackett. It said that he was holding a college reunion that weekend. Zoë sat back on her chair chewing her pen. She thought about her old friends Jess, Kris and Zack. It would be good to see them after all this time – they had all lost contact after a few months of leaving college. But Zoë wasn’t sure she could stand seeing Will again after what he did…

Jess looked at the photo frame on her desk and smiled. It was of her beautiful baby girl Melody. The picture was of her at 2 months old but she was 5 months old now. Jess was happy as she had a brilliant job, a wonderful daughter and they were living in a brilliant flat. The only thing missing was a man in her life, the particular man she wanted being Kris. Men had come and gone but none had been as perfect as she knew Kris would be. Jess sighed and looked down at what she was doing. She had just been promoted to editor in chief of the local newspaper and it felt good to be in charge. She was looking at the final prototype of that week’s paper but as she flicked through, a certain article caught her eye. It was an advertisement for a college reunion and it had been put there by a person she wanted to forget: Will Hackett. She stared at the black and white paper before her and thought about how great it would be to finally have the chance to see Kris and the others. Jess bit her lip wondering what she should do. Kris might not even be there but it would be good to see everyone. Apparently it was next Saturday…

Kris laughed as he sat in the pub with Zack.
“I’m glad we met up. I haven’t seen you in ages,” Zack said.
“Yeah it’s good. It’s a shame that Zoë and Jess aren’t here though,” Kris said.

“Well even if they don’t it will be a laugh. We should go,” Zack said.
“Yeah, alright then,” Kris agreed…

Will smiled as he put up the last decorations. It was going to be a fun night. Then the first guest walked through the door. Will turned and saw a good-looking man with dark hair wearing a black suit walk through the door. Will didn’t recognise him at all.
“Excuse me,” Will said, “There is a private party going on here.”
“Oh, hi Will. It’s me Elliot,” Elliot said.
“Elliot? Well you have changed a lot,” Will smirked.
Many more students came flooding through the doors as Will turned the music on and opened the bottles of wine. The people Will was waiting for still weren’t there and it had been an hour…

Jess paced up and down the hall in her red silk dress biting her nails. The baby sitter still hadn’t turned up so she picked up the phone and rang her.
Two minutes later she was sitting on the sofa with a glass of wine. The baby sitter had double booked and she was with other children who she couldn’t leave. So it was another night in for Jess but she began to feel sad as she had so wanted to see everyone again and maybe tell them her secret. Jess sighed and stared at the clock. It was only 7 pm but she felt like going to bed. She walked into Melody’s room and smiled at her but she couldn’t believe she had ruined her night again. ‘She doesn’t have to’ she thought but Jess knew that if she bought Melody with her then her secret would be revealed. At that moment Jess made up her mind – she was going…
