Jess ran her hands through her short bob nervously she was on her third cup of coffee and shed only been up for twenty minutes. She couldnt beileve she was doing this but she was visiting halls for the first time in a long time today and didnt have a clue what to say or do, But she did know one thing the money was going back to its rightful owners all of it. Sh looked over at the blue bag where the money had sat just ad she had left it.

She had been staying with her mum and dad and had felt terribly guilty having all that money stashed away secretly when she knew her parents had needed extra cash but she couldnt bring herself to spend what wasnt hers.

She got dressed in a velour trackie very dressed down which was unusual for jess but was fitting for today she dint wanna draw attention to herself just say her sorrys and leave again, thats all.

She walked downstairs and made herself some toast her mum and dad had already left for work so she just decided to leave there and then to get it out of the way.

Jess pulled up at the dog car park and looked around it was a bright sunny day which made Jess feel a little less nervous but she was still shaking.

She got out the car and retrieved the bag from the boot,greed had always been a part of jess's mind but this time she had pushed it out and hadnt spent a penny she had often been tempted by nice jewelery and fancy clothes but when she thought of her friends back at college she just couldnt.

She went to the dog at first the place was dead and when she saw Darren her face dropped.

Darren: GO AWAY DONT DARE SHOW YOUR FACE!

Jess was a little surprised at the outburst but continued walking towards him and when he saw the money his face lit up

Jess emptied half of the 200.000 out of the bag and handed it to darren

Jess: all yours

Darren didnt say a thing not quite understanding what was going on, Jess walked away quietly leaving him to stare at the money before him.She turned around.

Jess: please put it to good use this time

Jess continued walking and walked to halls next this she was more nervous about she was getting hot and was wondering whether this had been a big mistake or not.

She walked into the building which was deserted as everyone was either in lectures or lapping up the hot sunshine.

She continued along the corridor until she reached the flat and the first person she seen was Kris, he was leaning iver at the table in the kicthen doing some work for college and he hadnt seen her, the moment of truth had come and she knocked on the door.

Kris looked up and saw her he looke shocked and didnt rise from his chair at first he then collected himself and stood up and opened the door.

Kris: hello jess

Jess: hey kris

Jess walked into the flat and sat herself on the sofa looking around hadnt changed a bit.
Kris sat back down where he was sitting before and looked at jess puzzled as to why she was here.

Kris: whats in the bag

Jess: you know the money i took?

Kris: the whole flaming village knows jess!

Jess: its half of it ive already given darren his half and i was gonna give the other half to you lot

Kris: why why us?

Jess: because beileve it or not i still care about you lot very much and miss living here everyday and this is not me trying to get back in here its just an apology then ill leave and go back to mum and dads.

Kris: okay

At that moment Zoe burst into the flat

Zoe: oh what i day ive ha.....

Zoe noticed jess sitting on the couch and looked at her long and hard not knowing what to say just like kris.

Zoe: whats she doing here?

Kris: i would ask her that you know

Zoe: dont wanna talk to her i really dont

Jess: zoe please can i just have ten minutes to talk to you i am so sorry you know so sorry

Zoe: right ten minutes in my room NOW.

Let Zoe forgive her !!

Jess and Zoe walked towards Zoes room and closed the door behind them leaving kris in the lounge

Kris: BYE THEN

Zoe sat on her bed and jess on the chair at her desk.

Zoe: so talk then

Jess gulped and started telling zoe about everything that had happpened since she got home to her mum and dad th fighting and the loss of money, to how sorry she was and that she would love if they could all be friends again.

Zoe: jess listen to me okay i would love to just go back to being friends with you like we used to but everytime i think of hugging you or going for a drink i think of that awful thing you di..

Jess: zoe...

Zoe: please let me finish okay

Jess: okay sorry carry on

Zoe: okay im not saying that we can be best mates again straight away because thats not realistic but im willing to try okay?

Jess's face lit up and she half ran out her seat to give Zoe a hug but stopped before she reached her

Jess: hug?

Zoe: go on then

Jess gave her friend zoe a hug and they walked out the room seeing kris still waiting there.

Kris: you two allright now ? please say yes i couldnt stand to hear you both fighting again drove me up the wall

Jess: were working on it right?

Zoe: yeah were working on it

Kris: thank you lord!

They all sat down and had a coffee until Jess had to leave.

Zoe: oh and you know i dont live here anymore yeah?

Jess: no why where you staying ?

Zoe: im dating mike barnes and living with him

Jess's mouth dropped and she shut it quickly and smiled at her friend

Jess: ya happy?

Zoe: yes very very happy

Jess: thats all that counts then

Jess hugged kris and zoe goodbye and she left the halls

Kris: not so bad after all then eh?

Zoe: no deep down shes a good girl

Kris: it was great to see her though so good

Zoe looked at kris and laughed

Zoe: shut up!!

Jess woke up the next morning feeling very good about life which she hadnt done for a while she got dressed in a grey dress with black patent pumps and walked downstairs to find her mother sitting at the kitchen table

Jess: morning mum

Her mum looked up and smiled at her daughter

Jess'smum: You still heading to chester today hunni?

Jess; yes just going now

Jess'smum: okay be safe on those roads please

Jess: i will dont worry tell dad i said bye

Jess grabbed her bag and a coat and walked out to the car where she started the engine and drove off.

Back at halls Zoe and kris were talking about Jess and her return visit.

Kris: listen i just wanna say i think your being so mature about this whole jess thing

Zoe: thanks i just i mean i have missed her you know ?

Kris; yeah i know your not the only one

Zoe: i know ive noticed

Kris: shut up!

Zoe: ooh touchy listen im meeting mike for a drink but ill be back for jess coming okay?

Kris; okay then thats allright

Zoe walked out of halls leaving him alone with his thoughts and his feelings.

Jess had been on the road for a while and had just noticed the car making a strange noise and before she knew it she was grinding to a hlat at the side of the quite desserted motorway and grabbed her phone to call someone in the end she called kris

Kris: hello?

Jess; kris its me jess

Kris: oh hi ya here?

Jess: no i broke down and noone is stopping

Kris: okay calm down you know where you are?

Jess told kris where she was and kris listened

Kris: listen ill borrow jacks car he usually lets me whenever i need to go to town or whatever okay?

Jess: okay please hurry

Kris: i will

Kris walked to the dog in the pond and like he thought jack had no problem with him using his car, so he jumped in and drove off.

Kris drove for about 50 minutes until he saw jess's blue car at the side of the road he pulled over and sa her looking distressed.

Jess: kris thank god

Kris; yup im here

Kris looked at jess who looked very concerned and tried to calm her down

Kris: look woman its not the end of the world im a member of the aa ill call them okay well be out of her in no time

Jess: thanks

Kris: no problem

Withing half an hour the tow truck had arrived and jess decided to continue to chester to have it fixed

Kris; what are you like eh?

Jess: whatever!

Jess and Kris got out of the tow truck just round the corner from the dog and paid the driver.

Driver: no problem

Jess and kris left her car where it was the garadge wasnt open till the next day so they could do nothing but leave it there.

Kris; yeah good idea

Kris and Jess walked to the su where they saw mike and zoe kissing at the bar and looking very loved up.

Jess smiled and looked up at kris.

Jess: Aww so sweet how long?

Kris; quite a while i mean they have had thier ups and downs but i think there for real and could be together for a while

Jess; good im glad she needs someone like that in her life that will keep her happy you know

Kris: yeah i know drink?

Jess; yes good idea

Kris and jess went to the bar and ordered there drinks and continued over to zoe and mike

Jess: hey guys

Mike; hello not seen you around for a bit

Jess; i know been doing some real soul searching

Mike: cool

There was an akward moment of silence which was then filling when zak who hadnt yet seen jess came over and started to stare at her with a strange expression on his face

Zak; allright

Jess; yeah im good

Jess,Kris,Mike And Zoe all sat down at a table in the su while Zak went outside to play footie, the silence at first was akward until Kris broke it

Kris: so who like my boots!!

Kris put his leg onto the table and pointed at the boots, Jess's face dropped as she looked at them

Jess: there amazing where did ye get them?

Kris: im not telling youll only copy!

Jess: liar!! come on

Kris: maybe later eh?

Jess: whatever

They all took another drink and another akward silence came over this time it was Zoes turn

Zoe: okay ive had either chat or im going home

Mike: yeah come on guys

Before long they were chatting like they had never been apart and Kris and Mike kept exchanging confident glances as Zoe and jess seemed to betalking more and more as they drank, maybe it was just the alcohol maybe not.

After getting a little drunk they decided to call it a day

Jess: right i better get home now eh?

Kris; what now? its to late stay here the night

Jess looked at zoe and zoe smiled

Zoe: crash at halls jess!

They said their goodnights and Kris and Jess walked back to halls.

They entered and all was quiet

Kris: Elliots at home this week and Zak might not come back probably out on the pull again

Jess: okay who stays in my room now?

Kris: it was katy but she left the village

Jess: oh cool ill crash there then

Kris: yeah fine want a coffee or tea?

Jess: tea please Kris

Jess and Kris sat on the couch with some tea and Jess phoned her mum explaining why she wouldnt be back.She hung up the phone and looked at Kris

Kris: everything okay?

Jess: yeah she says thats fine and hopes we all had a good night.

Kris: cool

They finished their tea and said goonight to each other and Jess walked to her room

Jess: its like ive never been away

Kris: i know goodnight Jess

Jess: night

Jess woke up in at first unfamiliar souroundings she then looked around and realised where she was, she swung her legs out the bed and rubbed her eyes and smoothed out her hair. Looking in the mirror she was thankful she didnt look as bad as she felt and spotting her glass of water from last night took a drink and walked out the door.

She walked straight over to Kris's room and chapped lightly on the door after getting no answer she swung it open and noticed there was no one there.

She walked back out closing the door behind her and walked to the kitchen where there was a note left for her.

you were out of it when i left so i never woke you

Jess looked at the clock it was quarter past twelve now and she was in need of a shower, after her shower she realised she had nothing fresh to wear so she looked in kris' room, she found a denim pleated short skirt a long white floaty top and some black flats which she beileved were actually hers in the first place they were a perfect fit thank god her and Kris were similiar sizes.

At that moment she heard a knock on the door and checked to see who it was, it was zoe.

Jess: hiya

Zoe; hello why are you wearing kris' stuff?

Jess: nothing of my own i wasnt staying remember

Zoe: oh yeah last night was fun wasnt it?

Jess: yeah just like old times feel kinda rough though

Zoe: me too Kris about?

Jess; nah lectures be back at half one

Zoe: okay cool

Jess made herself some toast and her and Zoe watched a couple of friends episodes together until Kris came marching in the door looking a bit angry.

Jess: whats wrong?

Kris: the lecturer thats whats wrong

Zoe; why? whats he done?

Kris: oh you know what nevermind ill just kill him sometime see how he likes that

Jess and Zoe laughed at Kris' seriousness and Kris gave them a piercing look

Kris: dont laugh

Both: okay
