"When did you find this?" she asked Will as she recognised the handwriting on the envelope.
"Just a second ago in the kitchen." He said. He stood quietly as if wanting to know what it was, but Jess sat motionless so he left.
As soon as he was gone, she opened the envelope and read the letter.
To Jess
I am writing to tell you that I hope never to see you again in my life. Not only have you messed with my head, you have now targeted my brother, giving him ideas that will ruin him forever.
I hope you're happy. I guess not. You are looking for sympathy when actually all you deserve is a slap across the face.
Next time you see me, do not speak to me. As I don't want to hear your voice. Do not talk to me about this letter or our past because I am putting you behind me for good.
Bye Jess...
Kris
Jess sat on the bed in shock. This, she did not expect. It wasn't like Kris. She looked at the letter again to chack the handwriting. Yes, it was Kris's, though it was a bit tidy...
"Well done Jess." she said to herself.
A tear started rolling down her face, as slowly as one could, but she rapidly wiped it away. She refused to be sad. She refused to pity herself. That was what Kris hated her for. She needed to stop being the way she was. Who did she think she was, sleeping with Malachy? Why? Why did she behave so stupidly?
All these thoughts were surrounding her head in such quick motion, it was getting unbearable for her to take them in. She lay on the bed, clasped her pillow tightly around her face and cried, and cried and cried. She couldn't stop herself. She couldn't control herself. She couldn't even discipline herself to pick up her mobile that was ringing...
As she struggled to look at the screen on her phone, the name Kris flashed.
