He stood watching her from the corner of the village. To him she was perfection. For this reason alone he has been waiting in the same place every night for the past week, watching as she closed up the restaurant. Her boss appeared to always leave her in charge of that in favour of leaving early with his girlfriend. He continued to look as she walked quickly towards the alley way on her way home. A gleaming caught his eye as his gaze fell from her for a second. “Excuse me,” he called out. The girl turned around to face him. “Your key,” he called over. After retrieving it for her, he calmly held it up. “Oh, thank you. I would have been in so much trouble if I’d lost that,” she anxiously replied. He pressed the key into the palm of her held out hand. “No problem. It just caught my eye as I was sitting over in the garden.” “People usually only sit in that garden when something is wrong.” She smiled shyly at the stranger. He smiled warmly back before replying. “You got me. I have too many things on my mind. Thought that sitting in the dark would help,” he chuckled. Her natural beauty astounded him even more up close. “Usually just makes things worse,” she chuckled back. “True. You walking that way?” he indicated towards the alley way. She nodded and accepted his offer of someone to walk with. The girl had no idea why but any nervousness of being in the dark with a complete stranger never crossed her mind with this man. “I’m Jessica by the way.” “Kyle. It’s nice to talk to you Jessica.” Happy in the knowledge that she appeared to like him, he led her further into the darkness.
Jessica quietly let herself back into the flat. Her thoughts were occupied by the man that she had just met. He had this air about him that intrigued her and left her wanting to meet him again. These thoughts were soon stopped as she nearly tripped over a bag left in the middle of the floor. “Who on earth left that there?” she yelled out. She immediately regretted it after realising that the rest of the students would be in bed. Limping over to the kitchen counter, she searched for a safe place in which to deposit the key until work again in the morning. “Sorry, I meant to move that,” a voice called out to her. A voice that displayed a deep Irish accent. She looked up to find Kris stood in front of her. “When did you get back?” “Good to see you too,” he answered smirking. “It’s good to see you,” she muttered sarcastically. “When did you get back?” He stepped over his bag and stood inches away from her. “About an hour ago. Don’t I even get a hug?” She wrapped her arms around him quickly. “Happy now?” she asked after pulling back. “Ecstatic,” he stated smugly. They stood smiling at one another for a few seconds. After bidding him good night and promising to fill him in on everything tomorrow,Jess made her way to bed. Her dreams that night where filled with unusual images of Kyle. Unusual in that her dreams had been occupied by a certain Irish man all summer and upon his return her head had turned towards another.

Kyle stood in the same position as he kept at night. He had learnt last night that the girl of his dreams was in charge of opening up and was hoping to talk to her again. However, this hope turned to anger as she appeared from the alley way with another guy. A guy that Kyle mentally declared as weird as his appearance consisted of women’s clothes and eyeliner. Jessica seemed to be totally engrossed in conversation with him. Kyle noticed the way in which her eyes lit up as she spoke to him and concluded that something must be done about it. After checking that the village was fairly quiet, he made his way over to the restaurant. Upon the sound of the door being opened, Kris and Jess looked over at him. A wave of recognition washed through her eyes as she noticed that it was her handsome stranger. “Morning,” he called over, content that she appeared to be happy to see him. “Morning,” Jess called back. “You two know one another?” Kris had apparently picked up on the tension between the two. “We met last night. He saved me from getting the sack.” She smiled over at him. “She dropped her key. I just gave it back to her,” Kyle grudgingly told the guy. “Good job you were there to help then.” There was a hint of sarcasm in Kris’s voice. “Kyle, this is my room mate Kris. Kris, this is Kyle,” Jess stated. Her comment stung Kris whilst causing joy for Kyle. A room mate was nothing to worry about in his eyes. “Two coffees?” Jess asked. “Yeah,” both guys answered in unison. As she entered the kitchen to locate the coffee, they stood staring at one another. Both were obviously aware of the other’s intentions towards Jess. However, Jess remained totally oblivious to the growing tension as a result.

As business in the restaurant began to pick up, Kris decided to leave Jess to it. He told her that he’d meet her for dinner and left her talking to Kyle. He could have sworn that he saw a triumphant look pass over Kyle’s face as he exited the restaurant. “He seems nice,” Kyle noted as Kris walked away. “He is,” Jess commented. The tone of her voice unsettled Kyle. “Is he just a friend?” he asked. Jess stopped to think for a second. “Yeah, just a friend.” “Good,” Kyle smiled. “He doesn’t seem the relationship type anyway.” “No. I guess not,” Jess agreed sadly. Kyle had successfully picked up on her fear regarding Kris.. He continued to sit and watch her as she rushed around the busy restaurant with her boss. Of all the girls that he had fallen for in recent years, she was definitely the most amazing. Her beauty and personality had him in awe. Kyle concluded that he was going to get her, whatever the cost.

I don't like Kyle. He blatantly smells of cabbages. He should just run along and let Kris and Jess live happily ever after Can't wait for more... xoxox
