Justin waited confused for the verdict. The interval that he was currently taking part in seemed to go on forever. His mind was racing all he could think about was Frankie and why despite everything she'd changed her appeal to suit him. He sat stiff and watched as the clock kept ticking. He felt an utter rush of dread yet was desperate to know his fate all the same. He stood up and walked over to the window, gazing deeply at Nancy who was pacing up and down the corridors outside. Was she thinking about him? did she feel the strong stab of anxiety like he did. He turned round at what seemed like the speed of light as his Lawyer called for him. Once again he walked past the hords of people and took a place at the stand. This was it, the moment he'd been so terrified of yet all the same waiting for. He followed the judge without blinking as he placed himself in the middle of the room.

"Ladies and gentleman & members of the jury, the interval is over and now we must find out from you the fate of the defendent Justin Burton. Members of the jury do you find the defendent guilty or not guilty"


Justin felt a sickness fill his stomach as he glanced desperately at the people who were about to make him or break him. Nancy took one last look at Justin before she crossed her fingers and glanced at the floor. The leader of the Jury stood up and looked over at him before he took one last look at his fellow panel. He nodded at them before he spoke the words Justin had been awaiting to hear


"Not guilty"


Justin sighed with relief and looked over at Nancy who screamed a cry of happiness. He watched as Frankie depressingly made an exit to the court room followed by her grieving family. He felt a rush of guilt at the sight of this but soon cheered up at the fact he'd been given freedom. He'd been given freedom from the one person who should have let him burn in hell.

Justin stood in thought outside. He watched the tree's blowing in the wind and felt the cool air beneath his feet. He couldn't believe how the day had turned out, he was so sure he was going down. As much as he'd tried to think of a reason, he couldn't as to why Frankie had saw between her hate for him. He looked down at the floor and felt his eyes glaze over. "I had a feeling you'd be out here" A familiar voice sounded from behind. He turned his head slightly and smiled weakly at the young red haired girl who stood beside him. She looked calm and stable, but above all things she was beautiful, The object of his affections, The one who his heart went out to. "Feels good to be out in the fresh air" he replied softly. She took a few steps closer and leaned out onto the wooden fence which leant outwards towards the river "It's been a weird few months" She sighed as she gazed intently at the water. Justin moved closer and gripped hold of the wooden fence "Tell me about it" he said awkwardly. Nancy knelt downwards and picked up a pebble from the ground, She pulled herself back onto her feet and began to slide from hand to hand "You know, you never realise how much someone means to you untill you think you're going to lose them" she said firmly. Justin stared at her curiously "What do you mean?" he asked and looked outwards at the water. Nancy skimmed the pebble across the water "When i was with Becca in the hospital before she died.. She was telling me and Jake how much she loved us.. I was promising her she'd be okay but inside i knew she wasn't, I just couldn't admit it. I never thought i'd be that scared of loss again.. Until today" she turned to face him for a second then looked back at the water beneath her "I couldn't stop looking at you, i could feel your fear and it was ripping me apart. Ever since you were arrested i've been a bitch to you. Avoiding visits and not answering the phone.. but it wasn't because i hated you, it was because i'd began to fall so deeply in love with you that i couldn't bare to feel that fear again. Justin i swore to god i would hate you for the rest of my life but ever since you've became a part of me the pieces of hate i felt for you have turned into love and i've been torturing myself because of it. You have no idea how many times i've tried to keep hating you every now and then. It's like an ongoing battle i can't win and the thing is nomatter how much i can't.. You've got this unexplainable hold on me" She took a deep breath and placed his arms tightly around her "I know i told you i'm rubbish with promises and that i'm a bad person but if there's one thing i can guarrantee you it's this" He moved his mouth towards her ear and whispered "I won't let anyone hurt you, I'll be stood by you when i'm old gray and living in a home" Nancy giggled quietly and turned her head so that both their noses were touching. She rubbed hers against his and turned round so that she was facing him. She looked deeply into his eyes "Why do i love you?" she asked anxiously. Justin looked unknowingly at the floor "I don't know" he said and She placed her hand on his cheek "It's something i ask myself everyday.. i wake up every morning hoping that someday i'll know the answer" she said firmly. Justin ran his hand down her face and placed her hair behind her ear "You're a mystery Nancy, I can never read you.. You're like a raffle ticket" Nancy laughed slightly "A Raffle ticket?!" she questioned and waited for his explanation "You're a win, lose situation" Nancy glared at him "Is that a bad thing?" she asked and reached downwards at his hand "No.." he smiled "It's exiting" She flashed him a quick smile gave him a gentle kiss on the lips before she pulled him into an everlasting embrace.

Justin sat with a mug cupped between his hands. The room was silent and him and Nancy had found themself exchanging looks at one another "Have you lost your ability to speak?" he joked and Nancy threw a pillow at his face "I just don't want to speak to you.." She said back. Justin placed the pillow onto the empty seat next to him "Are you still mad because i hogged the bathroom?" he said wittingly. "No i'm mad at you because you wouldn't let me put your makeup on" Justin frowned "I'm a guy we don't wear makeup" "Well more fool you.." Justin stood up "I'm going home then.." He joked and ran towards the door. Nancy chased after him "Well you're staying here then right?" Justin turned to face her smiling "You mean?" "Yes Justin i'm asking you to move in.." Justin smiled at her picked her up and smiled around "Put me down or i'll change my mind!" she joked and with that he placed her quickly onto her feet.
