Absolutely. This has worked very well, having talented youngsters in the house for this series, leaving older, more interesting hms for the main series. Celebrity hijackers was a masterstroke to keep the celebrity action in the frame.

1/ Why do the so called Celebs once again have a London and the South East Basis

2/ Are you seriously telling me that no one from Ireland or Wales with talent and the age group you were looking for didn't apply for this series?

Just a thought

You're talking out of the back of your head!

1. Victor and Emelia may be "international" but they come from Birmingham.
2. Amy is from Leeds.
3. Liam is from Liverpool.
4. John is from Edinburgh.

That's a quarter of them not from the SE. Of the others, we don't know (from the biog pages) where they are from originally but their families could be from anywhere in the UK. London may be only where their work is. Jeremey's surname is from Yorkshire, for example.

I believe Emelia is doing damage to her health with all that vigorous spinning day after day, and Victor and Emelia should not be there as people to admire. The human brain was never meant to be spun like that.

Can you please get a top medical expert, brain specialist in, and let us hear his views on their act.

Presumably because to get a balance in gender, personality types and modes of excellence.

Ooh you are a cynical bunch! None of this is written by the Channel 4 PR Department (not sure we've even got one of those) and David is the newly installed Commissioning Editor, so he may not yet have quite got used to your chatting style here in the forums..... I have spoke to the folk looking after the technical side of the forums, who are very apologetic about the server errors making it difficult to post. I got a similar problem trying to post on this site last week, so I know how frustrating it is and we are trying really hard to fix it.
David is reading this thread and will be responding at the end of the week, so keep the comments and questions coming!

I experience this error evertime I log on..have logged out, rebooted so many times and even then it`s a hit or a miss if it`s going to work and if it does it can then randomly stop working. I have e.mailed and they say they are trying to fix it..fair enough..but will it be before the show ends? *sigh*
(still can`t use full post today..again! *sigh sigh* )

why do you keep messing with nominations, when this is the one this that really annoys most FM.

the nominations with joan rivers were a farce, she probably had the one chance to put the deadwood in the house up, but no what did she (or BB) do? put 3 of the most entertaining HMs up

i am so annoyed !!!!!

LEAVE THE NOMINATIONS ALONE

This is the last place to ask for comments, I have hardly posted because so many members have lost perspective. There should be a special BB site that rational people could debate on, invite only! I am so glad that this forum, BBBM and the crowd on eviction night do NOT represent the overall viewing public. I'm really enjoying the show.

The success of this show is that each day is unpredictable. Don't listen to miserable formers who do not like change. This is the best format BB has ever had. It is a shame that this forum has become a harsh environment for rational fans to exist.

Well said - I used to love posting here now I don't bother. Some comments I read make me recoil in horror - do people REALLY believe what they write?

It's a shame because I like to talk about BB Frown

Have I really nothing better to do?

Hi, David, A week in BB terms is a bit of a lifetime with what actually occurs on the show, anyhows.
I hope the nomination meddling achieves exactly what BB wanted regarding evictions on the 18/01/08. I believe, as do a large majority of the public that the HMs themselves or the public should choose who is nominated, not some over egod celeb reading E4 scripts. You "Who goes, you decide" anthen seems spretty innapropriate now as E4 decide who is nominated for people to choose from, neither HMs or public.

I am sure that you are completely aware of the overiding resentment to E4 that has comeout of this.

Anyways, thats the truth from this side of the fence

Hi Guys,

Thanks so much for taking the time to contribute to the forum and for watching the show. I hope you are enjoying it! It has been a busy first week but I think our Celebrity Hijackers have done a great job in taking over the weird and wonderful world of Big Brother and making it their own.

I’m sorry to hear that some of you have missed being able to watch events in the house online. Unfortunately, when we came to redesign the Big Brother website we weren’t able technically to incorporate live streaming into our lovely new video player. Hopefully this is something we can remedy in the future.

Many of you have also have lots of thoughts and opinions on the celebrities who have taken their turn hijacking the house. We have noted your thoughts and I hope that by the time the series comes to an end (and we have crowned our winner) some of your favourite famous faces have taken their turn.

A number of you have also been wondering why some of the housemates don’t always feature in some of the nightly shows. The Big Brother producers have a tough job squeezing 24 hours into a one hour show each day – especially when our Hijackers are on board. We always make sure that each show contains the main events of the day – all the most important stuff. So, if one of the housemates has a quiet day, it might be the case that you don’t see as much of them as some of the others.

Off now for the first live eviction night – please keep the posts coming and I will be back here next week

David

I accept being called cynical but if you really think you don't have a PR department you need sacking lady! :-)

Mind you, if they didn't that would explain why they keep putting their feet squarely in their mouths...

but yes, of course they utilize PR - just not awfully well.

To add to my previous post, there appears to be a gathering storm about Liam and his business claims.

I have no idea if there is merit in the accusations or not, but if I were you, I would get hold of the PR team you claim not to have and get them busy preparing a damage limitation statement.

1 Last Suggestion, i reckon that when you pick the people your going to have on the show you shouldnt do it in a safe way anymore, BB way seems to be make sure we pick at least 1 gay, 1 black, 1 asian and then the rest is based on viewing there VT.

After 8/9 shows im sure people now know that BB isnt discriminate in who they have on the show so really now it should be about choosing the best candidates not meeting public eye requirements.

Soz for double post - didnt get to edit in time.

It would also be the greatest thing ever BB has done if you could try and arrange something about Housemates mentioning brand names etc on the show.

About a week ago i was watching BB hijack live at about midnight and all it was, was:

"Yeah, think we" Bird whistles
5 minutes later, bird still whistling
"Oh and it would be" bird whistling
"But" Bird whistling
"and then" Bird whistling
2 minutes later "but really" bird whistles again.

I basically tuned in to hear constant breakup in sound every couple of minutes which lasted longer than a couple of minutes. After about the 20th time i was that ragged off with it i just changed channel - i havent watched live again since - just wait for the edited version to come out.

Its one of the major things destroying live viewers.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all your posts again this week. Please do rest assured that we read them all and that these are my thoughts and mine alone!

As we start the final week of the series, I have a request for you all. Some of you have been discussing the differences between our Hijack housemates and typical housemates from the summer series. It would be brilliant to hear any more thoughts that you have on the subject, as we start to look ahead to the summer and BB9. Did the fact that these housemates were hand picked by Big Brother make a difference to you? Did the fact that each of them had a different talent or skill make it easier for you to engage with them and get to know them? The house has been more harmonious in Hijack – did you enjoy the fact that the housemates have (pretty much) all got on and seem to enjoy each other’s company, or did you miss the friction and the arguments?

And thank you for your thoughts on the nomination process. We do have a delicate balancing act on Big Brother between keeping the twists and turns coming (and during this series, allowing the Hijackers to have their say) and maintaining the central ideas of the format that viewers enjoy. But, on this point I hear you loud and clear.

David
