What's been your favourite things this year? I'm gonna add to this thread but I really liked the film Dogville, the Saatchi BritArt Exhibition and the Saatchi 100 book which went along with it. I also thought this was the year of the reissue in music with some classic albums getting the remaster treatment, Blonde On Blonde was perhaps my favourite with Adam & Ants Dirk Wears White Sox running a close second; the packaging being particularly impressive for a budget price cd. As for new albums, I really enjoyed Bjork's Medulla, not because I think it's the best album of the year, but because I like to hear successful artists do something different and experimental and Bjork certainly stretches herself on that one. I'll try and come up with some other choices later.

Jack Vetrianno's Singing Butler, not for the fact that it reached a record price but it gave the guy the recognition he needed, because those bureaucrats of the establishment won't let his paintings be exhibited in the national galleries, because he didnt go to art school.

cant think of anything else right now

Was Kill Bill Vol 1 this year? Well the dvd was, at least I think it was, so I shall nominate that, a great visual feast, really superb regardless of the script's shortcomings and film references. Also for DVD reissue I would nominate Visconti's The Leopard, a truly remarkable period piece which I haven't seen for ages but got the film today and hope it's as good as I remember.

Another highlight is the Siouxsie box set Downside Up, a collection of B sides and rarities. Excellent packaging and some excellent tracks on there, a definite highlight for me as was Siouxsie's return to the 100 Club a few weeks ago.
