I was mortified after watching last nights programme. The Editors just totally destroyed any hope Rhyl has of overcoming its problems as a seaside resort and general town to many people. No beautiful landscape views of the north wales coast, no mention of the MASSIVE regeneration project that is going on over the next few years (and by the way this explains some of the semi-demilished buildings in view in the production). It was so byast it is shocking!!! Ok, fact, Rhyl has become run down over the years (in areas) but there is hope and there is so much work going on that has not been mentioned. This programme did nothing to help the area, not one comment from the individuals that work hard in the area, have social/owned homes and are happy. It is not as bad as was seen, west rhyl makes up a small portion of a WHOLE town.
Point to make...one of the reasons that Rhyl has become this way is because all around the country there have been signs in PRISONS that stated "Start a new Life move to RHYL!" over the past few years. I say wonderful, start a new life, all welcome, but please government, make sure there is enough PROVISIONS in the society to help these people MAKE a new start, dont just move them to an area and hope it will happen, dont just fill a B&B and expect a problem to go away. This is by no means the problem of the people of Rhyl or of its residents new or old or of anyones situation, it is, once again bad management by the "powers that be!"
So to conclude, please do a little more research, please do not write of a lovely town in a beautiful area, our housing crisis is as bad as the next town. Please come to our area enjoy the hills, get to know the wonderful people and do not take all on face value. It was wonderful to see people get help and just causes be supported but, do not pity an influential area support it and help it grow.
By the way, I do not live in Rhyl, but close enough to read papers, be educated and know facts before being let astray by bad editing.
