Its great to see that cameron is proposing lots of lefty proposals. Even if he doesnt mean them, the only way labour can go is further left.

firstly i dont believe cameron means them. there has already been contradictions between his rhetoric and actions. like attacking corperations at a google sponsered event. Much like republicans attack the immorality of rap music to satisfy the christian right but then pass through de-regulation of the media so they can show more sex and voilence.

But secondly this doesnt matter. Labour cant go more right because they will lose not only the centre but also thier core voters who want a more leftist party. Labours big mistake would be to appiont brown who is to much associated with blair and will not be popular. If they can get a new young leader in, that can make real left proposals and attack the contradictions of cameron then it can be successful. maybe they should condem the war, or the U.S and make more moves towards europe.

There is simply no more room for any party to move to the right. oh exept lib dems who appoint a pensioner who has successfully alienated the lib dem supporters by proposing stupid right wing proposals when they are most unpopular, about as unpopular as old men.

the whole thing bugs me a bit, there isnt really a solid left wing party around apart from the greens and they arent at all mainstream. Labour and lib dem seem to be crumbling away, both in their idealism and in their popularity. i'm not sure whether cameron is a good thing or that he's just going to make the conservatives popular again without changing much aside of image; it might happen in America though to be honest you'd think most people would ultimately see through it? it cant all be about rhetoric.
