Maybe there is a practical limit to the expression of God's omnipotence. For the creation of a universe with worlds capable of supporting intelligent life then destructive forces have to be unleashed. Stars have to explode, species have to die. The Universe is as good at supporting intelligent life as it can be, but it can't be perfect.

I think it is reasonable to ask someone who does believe in god to explain something from their POV.
I suspect it is unlikely that a sensible/logically consistent answer will be forthcoming. Which would make the question pointless.

Well it depends on your POV as you say. For example your response may come across as an individual who can't grasp things very well.

It would be unfair to state that and I would probably jump to your defence.

People are people so.....opps that from an old 80's song, sorry about that.

Not much of a God then, huh?

The reverse is true. There may be some point in debating with a believer the reasons for their belief and asking them to justify it - but for two sides of a debate to each hold the same opinion renders the debate pointless.

You have rather stuffed this up and have me saying what you think.
I'm thus not sure which comment the 'reverse is true' applies to.

To Freethinker,

Apologies for my error - my fingers are not nimble. My post should have read:-

'The reverse is true. There may be some point in debating with a believer the reasons for their belief and asking them to justify it - but for two sides of a debate to each hold the same opinion renders the debate pointless.'

As you saw, I inadvertently included your remarks when replying.

I'm still not clear what this is the reverse of, as this is what I said.

My "... question pointless.." point is that you cannot have a rational debate with someone who has holds an irrational belief, and thus only applies if the questioner was expecting a rational, logical response.
