'quirks and coincidences' might make for interesting raw material but they do not make a case for an inside job. after all, they could be indicative of something else entirely, such as a high rate of telepathy amongst stock analysts? you need to make your case for how, why and who dunnit.

ok, perhaps my comment about telepathy amongst airline stock analysts was a bit too...... david icke.....

my point was that suspicions about the levels of stock trading are not 'evidence' or even grounds for suspicion of an inside job, as they could indicate some other factor entirely,

and that factor is, that AA / UA stocks had been falling for months preceeding the event (they lost 20% of their value in the 2 months of July/August) on a string of bad news about the aviation industry and about those companies, including that they had over committed on orders, that sales were dropping, that fuel prices were going up, and at least one of the companies was expecting losses.

hence, selling of stock.

no mystery, just common trading sense/practice
