My girlfriend like yourself is to a very sensitive person due to the effect the troubles have had on her life, her families life and the life of her friends and there families, I am fortunate enough not to have gone through what she has. As a result of this she is totally addicted to ceefax and the news so knows whats goning on in the world. Northern Ireland has had relative peace for the past couple of years but the scars still remain ( living here is still no picnic). It is still a very secular and sectarian society and I predict England will face the same problems as Ulster unless all the inhabitants of the UK integrate, hence my earlier comments eg, those who stick to there own leads to a large problem.
The people of northern ireland have hopefully laid there demons to rest and I hope in the future we will not have to undergo similar unrest due to muslim extremists!!!

Amen to that last paragraph Alot of the problem is to do with clashing of cultures and some not wanting to integrate on both sides. i know of many people who dont like Muslims or Asian people (some stupidly see them as being interchangeable terms) Ive spent today catching up on various pieces of news (avoiding the troubles in Lebanon for piece of mind) the internet is a great place to be able to choose what news we read thankfully.

I have to say with forthcoming travel plans (within the next two weeks actually) Im very frustrated, no actually Im outraged at what is happening. I cant travel without make up to hand but it seems Im forced to as Im not allowed to carry it. I cant carry snacks and drinks for my children (so am stuck with prices on the flight which will no doubt be rising to take FULL advantage of the situation). I cant even carry a bloody handbag or some electronic games to occupy my kids on a 4 and a half hour flight. Im concerned as much as Im angry about this, after all my flight is going TOWARDS the midddle East. The last Christian country before hitting an Islamic ME in fact, Cypress which as Im sure you are aware is very close to Iran. A great concern indeed but we will still go none the less.

Im a bit of a cynic with our government though, as I am about the US goverment and I find it odd that though the threat was to transatlatic flights only (it appears from the info i have seen) that it was domestic and European flights that cancelled, US flights went ahead as planned, even the particular airline that was under threat from terrorists. Now that strikes me as odd. Is it that the US dont TRULY believe there was REAL danger yet our airlines based in Europe havent been told such a thing? Is it maybe that the terrorist threat is a smoke screen for many other activities going on around the world that our governments want to draw attention away from? I cant help being as cynical as I am sensative, its my nature. Just wonder what you make of those theories despite mad claims about me being forced to use the net and banned from watching tv news I see you as of at least average intelligence and would be interested in your views

Some of thier government are as big of extremists as the ones from the ME, Europe and unfortunately those that reside in the UK. I personally think all religous teachings are no more useful than a history lesson. People would be alot better off if the followed the teachings of mathematics, science and the arts.

Cant disagree with that love, lets stick to the sciences (as a scientist myself I cant disagree ) and leave the superstitions out of world politics. Its gotta be a better place for it Im sure. Glad to see you can communicate without offence unlike the morons above. i enjoy hearing opposing sides to a debate when given in a decent manner and here at the end of the day, we are actually agreeing because of it. Hubby likes the quiet hours to get a few hours on on the PS2 and i use that nice quiet time to come here, havent a chance through the day usually with it being the holidays and me having 4 kids mores the pity.
