A fertilised egg is no more alive than any other cell. It is not self sustaining, and cell division does not make it alive either.
I'm fully aware that life is contingent, relying on a host of different factors; am I supposed to list all those factors in a post? No, I was pointing out that the one factor you chose is not not unique to an embryo and thus irreverent. Actually, you claim that it is no longer alive when the cell division stops. So are frozen embryos dead? quote: Secondly we are talking about the development of a human being; the comparison with a tumor which is not a separate entity, is completely invalid. A 1-cell embryo is no more a separate entity than a blood cell. Thirdly a newborn infant is not 'self sustaining' either, is it alive?
Ultimately, nothing is self-sustaining as all life needs air, food and water.

There are some great ones out there (I mention no names because that's very, very naughty) full of christians. Great fun. I always come back here though. It feels like putting on an old pair of slippers.

No, I don't bother with anywhere else: I first visited here after one of Rod Liddle's feeble attempts at producing a "documentary", to vent my disbelief, and was astounded that there could exist such a hot bed of ignorance and atheism. I now feel moved to write a treatise on sin, temptation and the voice of Stan. Watch this space.
What time is it, Mr Woolf? Time to mend your ways, for the end is nigh.

Division of labour can be a good thing. You keep contributing the ignorance and we keep contributing the atheism. But please, just don't overdo it, as you tend to.

Nearly right. Leafar and RJ are the principle contributors of ignorance, woolfy mostly contributes bigotry.

That's the nicest thing anyone could say to a Christian. Much as it hurts: "Thank you, Free Thinker"

Next time you speak to him, perhaps you'd like to ask him why he's forsaken us then.
I do. I really do. He didn't answer me directly yet, but I suspect that it was because He gave them ample chance and opportunity to turn to Himself, but they just laughed in His face? That's pretty much the gist of what I underestand from the Bible. What do you reckon?
If he does answer you....would you please go and see a doctor. Whilst it is quite amusing reading what you say, if you think you're receiving messages then you need help.

who's Stan ?
Sorry: You must have missed that: Some girlie on the boards a few weeks back referred to my reference to the voice of Satan as the voice of Stan. Hes then adopted it as the name of his punk rock ensemble, and it has become our affectionate name for the prince of darkness ever since.

It's the name of my next neo-jazz progressive punk rock electronica album: "Tempted By The Voice Of Stan". Feel free to start contributing lyrics.
