Hello Steffi et al. Thanks for your concern - I sent an e-mail to Psych. To summarise- early last week I thought I was having another heart attack - so an ambulance came and took me to the hospital (best to be safe), they did all their stuff, but the main blood test that tells them what is happening is the one that comes out of the lab last every day (sod's law), so that took up another day. Turned out the symptoms were due to my blood pressure suddenly going through the roof. My doc has changed one of my tablets and it interracts with one of the other ones, although this only lasts an average of 10 days- until you become used to it, I really could do without it as it is a bit like being hit by both Klitshcko bros. I am missing much sport - today for instance, I missed all post lunch play in the test bar the first 20 minutes. If England had lost I would have felt guilty. Another 4 days and I should be hot to trot.
Thanks once again for caring - it is appreciated more than I can say here.

Glad to hear you're ok Fatdave! I saw your replies to some threads in the news forum during the week, posted around 4 am, so its good to see you're back in form!
Hope to see you a month from now when i return from greece, so we can have that glass of cyber ouzo--that ought to keep Wladimyr and Vitaly away for a few hours!
TOP TIP: Alcohol makes an ideal substitute for happiness.
Thank you everyone- I have been awake all day today- even saw all the cricket ( excellent ). I seem to be getting used to these pills though they are not acting as fast as I would like them to. Steffi - have a lovely time and Roman - your wishes are working

Good to have you back, Dave.
--------------------------- From the dawn of time we came. Moving silently, down through the centuries; struggling to reach the time of the Gathering, when those who remain will battle to the last. You have never known that we were among you. Until now.
I would like to share the fact that our young tomcat has just returned. We last saw him on Monday morning and had it been any of the other Toms would not have been worried.
Monkey (for that is his name) however, is a bit different. Although he is 2 he only looks about 6 months old. He had an awful virl infection as a kitten and lost an eye to the vet. It also left him with a bit of a hunched back and various neurological problems. He is not normally troubled by his hormones into chasing girlies. The highspot of his day are breakfast (biscuits) and dinner (meat/fish) and you can set your watch by his arrival. When he hadn't returned home by Wednesday Mrs fatdave and I went out checking roads and verges and shouting down people's driveways like lunatics. We put out an APB through the Cat's Protection League and RSPCA and were going to ask the local radio to make an announcement. Despite all his problems he is a sunny, happy little chap and we both shed some tears. Then at 2 O'clock this mornig in he strolled and sat down in front of the fridge shouting for some catmilk. Having for the first time in many years offered a short supplication heavenward I sent a huge thankyou in the same direction!

I jumped off a cliff into the sea when I was on holiday.
Not unique, I know, though it was the first time I had done it.
There were a collection of buff, tanned Croatian chaps doing it. They were quite impressed when a pale flabby Englishman had a go as well.
And, I am reliably informed, the clientele of a restaurant overlooking the cliff burst into applause when I jumped in. Which is quite cool, even if what was intended as an exhuberant "Yahooo!" as I jumped in fact came out as a shriek of terror.
On more general terms, I would also like to share that Dubrovnik is a really, really nice place, and I heartily recomend it as a holiday destination.
Is it Balkan food? I used to eat that all the time in Germany - hence not being thindave. Does the drink come with much cheapness? Are the Girlies preety??
The food was excellent, Dave. Being a veggie, I was unable to sample the seafood, which is definitely the local speciality, but my mates informed me it was consistently good. The sort of stuff that Rick Stein is always going on about: simple stuff, exceptionally fresh and properly prepared. Ridiculously cheap to. Dinner for three, with beers and dessert came in at £30.
Beers was good too, but only a little cheaper than over here.
Sea was blue and warm. You could float in it, like the Dead Sea, and it was still as a millpond. Beach was two minutes walk from the hotel.
The Old City is just ridiculously beautiful. The streets are all ancient pavestones that have been there for so long, and have had so many people walking on them, that the pavement is polished like some kind of stone parquet.
I went on a coach trip to Bosnia too. Saw the new Old Bridge in Mostar, and got interviewed by Bosnian TV whilst trying to chat up a charming English lady who was also on the trip.
Yay! I want to go. I noticed at the weekend you had made a comment on another thread which I found most apt. In the light of today's full moon may I repeat it here?
I am returned from my reunion in Scarborough where all the fat old soldiers groan and cough. A straw poll on Blair's prospects produced very poor results - for him. Another one on G Hoon esq showed him to be held in utter contempt equally by serving and former military personnel - that result alone was worth making the journey north for. We found a pub that cooks vegetables properly - so that they remain crisp and crunchy - even the cabbage! Bliss.
roman...if you're lurking, well, stop it and start posting again! I've been back from greece for about 2weeks now, but 'sharing' is somehow not the same without you!
Hi dave and phsychonaut, 3 cheers to you two for keeping this thread on life support..!
p.s. croatia sounds fun, i'll probably be visiting in the next 4months.
Is it hugely fast Psych? I am most happy for you on that score- as I know you were having difficulty - are you now broadband enabled? If so - you will already be aware of the possibilities. I will share the fact that young Ms Fatdave has gone to see WASP tonight and proposes to spend the weekend a- rockin' in Sittingbourne!
I am responsibly sharing the fact that I have taken action to ensure this thread does not reach a demise- I believe we have a shared resposibility to that effect.
..And after Dave's inspirational post, i feel -like other women before me (Jeanne D'arc, Mulan) it's time for me to accept my calling and keep this thread alive! I will now share with all of you (all 2 of you !) that if i have to spend another week in luton, i shall shave my head and humbly offer it to my friend at the sandwich shop to use as he pleases, especially if he sneakily places it in between the smoked carpaccio and sun blushed tomato ciabattas, when served to rude meanies.
