What about the UN's Declaration of Rights of Indigenous Peoples passed in 2007? Specifically, Article 8 'Whitey' need not apply it seems. British people don't get to be 'indigenous' do they? We're a mongrel race so we constantly told along with all the other anti-Brit libels... And the British Empire, an embarrassment despite it being the last entity to stand against Nazism and hold out only now to be called 'Nazis' for simply wishing to preserve our identity as others appear to be entitled to. It is a disgrace and frankly, racist.

Duh - "I don't believe it!" - the UN have adopted New Labours positive propaganda Multiculturalism Policy: Affirming also that all peoples contribute to the diversity and richness of civilizations and cultures, which constitute the common heritage of humankind,

Ad. 1 you said you like immigrants but also you indicate that you will be "thumping" us because the media propagate the idea that they might put you at the and of the queue for benefits because of us, and you might believe that
Ad. 2 we are both women and I tend to dance with the opposite sex, thanks though.

You are right Liz, but from my experience, I love Britain as a multi-culture, and I do see the difficult balance of integration between culture. I grew up in a primary school which was the first to have Arabic within its sign posts. No child or their parents were against this. For at that time of my childhood it was a kind of utopia and I consider myself very lucky to have experienced it as I learnt so much from it. It is because of this that I personally feel so opposed to Powell's speech; because I know from experience that multi-culturalism is possible. However, I now live in Birmingham as a student, and of course the make-up of Birmingham is completely different to that of my Primary school; history has shown this in the 2005 lozell riots which featured in the programme. I do realise the importance of Powell's speech and don't see him as being a racist, it is only against my personal experience. I am in contact with Tony Benn and he has told me of such things. It is simply a view that I can not get out of my mind. I just feel that his speech has too much publicity within this society.
By the way were is Tony Benn making a speech?

This, however, does not make me feel any better.

Surrounded by fascists.
I thought you said you had an open mind, clearly not. Are you claiming the British public are fascistic now or people on this thread are?
Again , you getting ahead of yourself, there are posters on this board who sound normal, open-minded and welcoming to Poles, I do believe they are the majority of British public, that is the feeling I got while watching the audience reaction to the mention of the rivers of blood speech during the yesterdays question time for London mayor candidates. It was boooed. Here on a contrary there are just fascists and other pple with their own issues trying to make us Polish pple scapegoats. I leave you to it. It is pointless discussion to find any solution to the problem if one is constantly facing a pure and simple prejudice. It is inhumane and damaging, something on the same shelf with murder and theft.
