No, I know, sorry, Linda.
I had cut some stuff out to make the story more readable, and had failed to take your name line out.
It was Malcolm wot said it.
He's very angry, you see, and writes in red a lot.

I'm on your side in all of this.

God bless!

Sorry if the colour offended.I wrote in red for clarity only.I feel that it minimises the problem that you woofie introduced.Does this colour suit you better?
Lindabud... HugI don't feel that God has blessed you,its throwaway lines like 'God bless you',which are the fundimentals of this debate & not argueing for its own sake.Religion is a curse appon Mankind. Wave

God bless!

No, that pink is really difficult to read.

I would disagree, anyway, with your assessment of Linda's status: She is, indeed, blessed.
I can tell that from here.

What ever belief we have, athiest, christian, muslim, we are supposed to hold fast to our beliefs and not sit on the fence, because Jesus is coming back to get us and we will be judged according to our hearts.
And I'll tell ya, I'd sure be upset if I gambled my eternity on the idea that there was no God just to find out that there is a God, after I died.
My parents are athiests and that's fine for them.

For me, I think life really sucks and I'd probably shoot myself if I didn't know that there is a God who has a plan for me.

Well,I'm sorry Mr Woolfe,I deduced from the above that Linda was,nt having a very good deal from 'life'.It sounds to me that she is doing God's work,& finding it hard.Prap's I'm wrong.

Can you please address my outstanding ?'s re this thread.(in red ,way back....you can't miss them.If the colours are not to your liking, prap's you will ask the Mods what they are for?

Well, no, we all have the feeling that life is, as you say, a bitch, sometimes, and for certain, we all die.
I have been having a few such months myself, actually, but as a Christian, I see it as a period of sanctification, from which I emerged realising that in fact I have had such a good life thus far. As to whether we are any of us blessed or not, the ultimate blessing, and, for a Christian, the only blessing which counts, is that God has chosen to reveal His truth to us, which inexorably leads us to salvation.
Linda obviously has it, is blessed and saved.

Can you help us poor doomed goats with the hell question? Why do you think god wants us in heaven with him, and yet makes the consequences of disbelief so severe? I get we can't all be rewarded, but eternal damnation seems a little harsh.

Nicky
BTW, I'm 5 foot 2, if you think that's relevant.

I think that the point of God is that He is a fundamentalist Holy, Holy, Holy, as it says in the Bible. Thrice Holy.
No middle ground.

I think that you're considering the wrong difference, regarding salvation, though. Like the guy who used to get really annoyed if anyone remarked that his one leg was shorter than the other, when in actual fact, he had one leg longer than the other.

Point is, that we all deserve to rot in Hell for the sins which we commit without giving it a second thought, on a daily basis.
The wonderful thing is that God has promised to forgive and save those who fess up to it, apologise, and do His will.
I think that's mighty big of Him.

Can I just say that you seem remarkably well adjusted for someone who's only 5ft 2.
There are some guys on this site who have a grudge against humanity because they're so short.

Hello 'mon vieux'...Woolfie
You continue to facinate me with your obsession with the law of 'generalisation'...Yes I do get angry about your 'God'(not humanity,as you said)....that doesnt = me being 5ft odd.Yes I agree that history shows us that some wicked folk were short, but so were some tall guys.I believe that it is your logic that is stunted. How tall do you reckon God is Woolfie...,If he is as good as you say he is he must be at least 6 ft 4in.
You still hav'nt told me who God is,where he lives and what he has for dinner?...and don't just rename him, don't take me for a fool, just because I'm only 4ft 7in.
Why is God male...that's sexist.
Answer please

I guess that God isn't overly concerned with such things as gender. He does what He wants, I suppose. Sexism is something made up by mankind. Another politically correct construct, invented by the dark one, which has no place in Christianity.

Well Mr Woolfe...Now you are back from church Angel & have more time..perhaps you will address all my ?'s...on one hand you claim God is ethereal,& on the other hand you claim he has testicles.(male)...! how does that work?
Answer please

God's nature transcends human understanding. I don't really know, and I don't feel that I need to know. I can ask Him when we meet at the end of time. Not long to wait, now.

Also I keep asking you to explain what God is????...& don't just rename HIM.
Answer please

I would refer you to my earlier comments.

If Adam was made in God's image, then God must look like a pretty regular guy,I guess.
Response please

He can appear however He wants to appear. He has certainly manifested as humanoid in at least a couple of documented instances. He has also appeared as a rushing wind, and as a consuming fire.

DON'T YOU HONESTLY THINK THIS IS ALL TOO PAT AND SILLY FOR WORDS?

Response please

Evidently, not. It all makes perfect sense. It's the alternative "possibility" which seems totally facile, to me?

Lets hammer out the basics, before we go in drawn out theological arguments.

Lets all stick to common sense.
My whole point is,as I have said before, that your logic is illogical...along with that of all your religious brethren.Debate is futile,a belief is a belief...end of.

I would agree with you there. "Belief" in abiogenesis and evolution is quite inexplicable.

Wringing His hands in despair at what is being said and done in His name, no doubt.

But also, at times, rejoicing that others are coming to a saving knowledge and understanding of His truth.

Probably Sudoku. I bet he's really good at it too, what with his omniscience and all that. Smile

"Without free speech no search for truth is possible... no discovery of truth is useful... Better a thousandfold abuse of free speech than denial of free speech. The abuse dies in a day, but the denial slays the life of the people, and entombs the hope of the race." - Charles Bradlaugh.

I've been away from the board for a couple of weeks and I'm so far behind now that I won't even attempt to catch up. However, one comment I did notice was this one.

I find this sort of view enormously frustrating. If our entire lives are simply God's plan for us then what's the point of doing anything, making any choices, trying to make a difference, striving to do one's best, etc.

I can appreciate the desire to pass responsibility on to someone else when things aren't going well but it's vital to begin to take responsibility yourself. OK, so I'm an atheist so it's easier for take responsibility for my own situation than for someone who believes in a God that cares and looks out for them.

But Ghandi said "Nobody can hurt me without my permission". What he means by this is that even if the circumstances you find yourself in are out of your control, how you deal with it is entirely up to you. Someone may try as hard as they like to offend me, get me down, etc. but it's entirely up to me as to whether I let them have their way. That is, nobody can hurt me without my permission.

Regardless of whether or not you're a believer, take responsibility for how you deal with the hand that you're dealt. I don't believe in a God so, by definition, can't console myself with a view that my life is part of God's plan. But even if I did, I'd take responsibility for dealing with the things he was testing me with...glamorous or otherwise.

Remember that nobody can hurt you without your permission.....including God.

Nice to get some common sense back to this thread.I really can't believe some of the utter tripe that gets posted.Belief is what it says, but on another thread some nut is still expecting his allocation of virgins in heaven, and his tag is ...'lets all stick to common sense'....oh dear.

I think I almost find myself agreeing with that viewpoint.
What's happening to me?!
I must have spent too much time on the gay discussion forum!
