What's going on guys?

The listings were wrong, the on line guides were wrong, even the continuity anouncer was wrong.

Telling people what the program content is isn't that complicated is it?

Fortunately, I pressed the "record" button just in case the "Top Ten" turned out to be a different top ten to what we saw at the end of series 8.

Channel 4 have dropped the ball, or should I say the pumpkin, in a big way here!

So how many of you switched off thinking it was going to be an episode you'd seen before?

You should have kept an eye on my Steve G Scrapheap Website guys. I mentioned this error in the TV listings last Sunday 8th Jan.

Also have a look at at my sister
Steve G Scrappy Races Website as well with a little information about the new Scrappy Races Rally (2006 series-3) that begins next Sunday 22nd January 2006 at 4.50pm

I saw that on your site!! Big Grin
So I was ready with the record button, must say I enjoyed the programme. Those three together are a right laugh.
Was certainly more exciting than the tomato one. Good fun, but a bit of an anti-climax.
Seem to remember seeing the pumpkin chunkin somewhere before, might have been Eurotrash.
I do wish C4 would repeat the very early challenges, the amount of crap and incessant repeats on E4, More4 etc etc there is more than enough room.
Cool

Sky Plus is automatically set to record the entire series, so it picked it up as the top ten, and with me doing my usual thing and coming in watching it 15 minutes after it has started (watching the recording) to avoid those annoying adverts.

I totally agree. I had Sky+ a few month ago and it is brilliant for series link recording. The 'Green' button beats the 'Red' button any day. It has already automatically preset itself to record Scrappy Races Rally next week.

Cooooool !

I was relieved, too, to have set my Humax to record irregardless - would have been very upset to get back from the pub to realise what I'd missed!

Is that Humax the latest model 9200 that has the twin tuners ? If so is it ok ? as I was thinking of one for the spare room as a back-up when Sky has one of it's bad days.

Yep! Very nice it is, too. Has some odd niggles over the 8000 that I'm still getting used to, but excellent box. Even better - you can transfer recordings to your PC (and then to iPod!) via the on-board USB2.
Downside - it's TopUp compatible, but you've got to forkout £lots to get a TUTV card CAM first.

Whilst were well off topic...

It looks like I might be doing a deal on a laptop over the next few days, and I don't have a lot of time to fugure it out, so;

Panasonic CF18 Toughbook. 1.1 GHz, 40GB, 768MB ram. Anyone had any experience with them? I'm aware I could get a faster machine for less money, but that's not the point. I don't need a fast processor.

Western Union money transfer. Is it a safe way of dealing? I understand it goes like this

1) I put the money in a holding account and the seller gets confirmation that it's there.

2) He sends the lappo to a local travel agent for me to collect.

4) When I collect, I give the answer to a secret question to enable the cash transfer.

All in all in means the seller gets his money at about the same time I get the product, so both parties are protected?

Well. it's ebay, but not proper ebay as it's a back door deal... which looks too good to be true as the guy has offered it to me for about £450 less than the going ebay rate for this item, because he is desperate for money. At the same time he has declined my offer to meet him at a location outside london and pay cash.

I have done a bit of digging and think I may have to walk away from this one.

The problem will be that he will prob send you a duff-laptop, which you won't discover until the money has gone.

I did a search on google last night- 'ebay scam western union', and it seems there are a few scams going on with expensive electronic protucts.

I noticed the auction was an exact copy of one which ended a few weeks ago. Same photographs and description, but different seller (and buyer).

A hotmail address was used (which may have been hijacked)and the seller withheld his phone number when he called me.
Western Union say never send money to people you don't know and it is possible the receiver of funds can take the money using only the 10 figure code (which the seller claimed is only to check on the status of funds).

A little too hot. Suppose mutual exchange is the only way with this sort of thing.

That's the thing to look for! If it's too good to be true ... it probably is! One of the best places I've seen for getting damn good on-line deals, and with a good reputation, is a company called Novatech (look them up on the web)

I remember Novatech, It had Tiff Needel doing the adverts for them a few years ago.

Don't know if you are familiar with the products, but Panasonic Toughbook CF 18 (with two years of warranty left), complete with an external CD/DVDR combo, for £1150. They retail for about £2500.

Just can't trust anything. If it wasn't for me being paranoid I would probablt have lost the money by now.

I bought the Thompson DHD4000 with twin tuner and 40G hard drive. It works quite well. I've had problems with it crashing but from talking to a friend of mine with the same one this is likely to be due to poor signal on some of the channels. The box seems to get upset when the signal isn't strong. He installed an amplifier and his box has been rock solid since. The only things it has failed to record are the ones he forgot to tell it to :-)

Steve, if you want to know more about it, drop me a private email or give me a call. I'm back in the UK on Sunday.

Craig
