Yes I like it. The dynamics are interesting - particularly those created by Nick, I think Nick is an interesting charachter. Although he clearly has good survival skills he is not a natural leader. He is aware that James and Char are more charismatic and better communicators than him and hence both more leader material. Also he is aware that at this stage in the series, all 3 need to be very bonded as a team / unit with no leader because if James or Char were to become a leader, he might come into conflict with them because he has the best survival skills. The way he has handled the whole sarah thing demonstrates this. If he was a good leader / manager he would have dealt with her 3 problems: not sure what role she can fill, laziness and greed in a more constructive way instead of just using her a scape goat to bond the rest of group. the way the show is edited, it appears that it is him that is being by far the most negative about her and it is he who makes remarks like "she is not one of us" Yes she is an absolute pain, but as a leader, he should have delegated her to fishing last week, you do not have to be big and strong to fish as more intelligent Riva very quickly noticed! Having said this, it would be interesting to know if Nick's behaviour would be any different if he used his little brain and realized that the 3rd island is in the competition and if they manage to keep all the "rejects" instead of letting them run home to "Mummy" which Sarah no doubt will soonish, they would "hands down" win the competition. Or maybe he has noticed but reckons they should ostrisize the weakest ones as they don't need to keep everyone. However there have only been 4 arrivals so far ..... Thoughts anyone?
have to say I agree with you. At the moment the sharks and tigers don't appeal to me as much as they did in 2006 or 2007. But I guess it is still early days
On the third island they have to work together to find food and end up eating all sorts of things. On the other islands most of their time is taken up by pointless arguments and it has a game show feel about it. The third island isn’t as repetitive as the other islands. We don’t have to go through meetings everyone and the fake smiles and the beach party. We’ve seen it all before.
On the third island I feel we are seeing something different.
Oooh what did Robert Downey Jr say about Tom? I didn't watch that bit (obviously Jen lol)
I think the 3rd island is a welcome new factor this year. I bet the third islanders are closer to each other than those on other islands.
It would be fantastic if at the end, once the Tigers or Sharks have been through all the weeks and think one of them are ahead, then at the final beach party when one island clearly think they've won, the 3rd islanders come onto the island, and either are allowed to choose which island they choose....or more likely, they end up on the other island to what they were rejected from.... meaning Sarah ends up as a Tiger... Diva ends up as a Tiger... etc. etc.
lol sorry, silly concept I know lol
I'll just go back to eating chocolate and watching the news........(chocolate offsets the depression of the news!)
Third Island is deffo the best show, and i'm not happy that there are no 'Hutcam Diaries' from it. The other show gets the full hour AND hutcam diaries.
WE WANT MORE OF THE THIRD ISLAND AND THIRD ISLAND HUTCAMS...... OR ELSE!

I agree...shame there is no hutcams for the third islanders! I love Hawk island and find it so much more interesting to watch. The other two islands are just really repetative. Shame the third island isnt on for an hour! Nick weston fan
Disagree! ..... although the concept of Hawk Island is good ... I cannot stand Char!!! and as for Sarah ... she would have had something said to her by now!!
Also, Jojomary can you please save you slandeous posts for the appropriate threads? Or pehaps start a new one and you can bang on about Nick's imperative to aid Sarah until your heart's content...I think it'll be a lonely thread as Sarah is leaving and people will have soon forgotten her.

I agree with a lot of what you've said. Nick just seems to accept that Sarah is an outsider, and he almost finds it funny. I haven't seen him show any concern about the situation or make any attempt to rectify it.
I get the feeling that James and Char are a bit less happy about it all, but aren't quite sure what to do about it.
As for the competition, I don't think the third island is in the running in quite the way you suggest, so I'm not so bothered by that aspect of his attitude.

Wonder why she didn't get a spread in Nuts?!?
Looks to me like a reasonably appropriate thread in which to be discussing what we're seeing on the third island.

ummm what?? do you really think the third island is the competition? i dont see how that is possible seeing as they will probably be guaranteed a new arrival every week. surely one of the most plausible outcomes is that all the third islanders will have to chose either tigers or sharks to win and then theyll tote up the final numbers?
The reason why I am absolutely convinced the third island must be in the running for the prize is - the people on the third island are still in the show, they too have a challenge - to last 3 months on a challenging island! it cannot be taken for granted that they will automatically have the most people (although they probably will)as they are no doubt about to lose Sarah and she was the third new arrival. How many more may they lose over the next 3 months? Thus if more people stick it out to the end on Hawk islands than the "party" islands, it is only fit, just and logical that they should win. Shipwrecked said that there was going to be a "twist" associated with Hawks. Why should they lose out automatically on the money over straws and pebbles and also have to endure harsher conditions. we all know that none of it is really about the money but it's the principle of it!
If Sarah did leave the Hawks, that epitomizes what is wrong with the society we leave in, in dealing with a new arrival in our mist. Nick might be a survival expert but he larks much the skills needed to gell a group together, in such trying circumstances. Char didn't help much and James just went along. The narator went on about how Nick, Char and James have decided that meals will be shared...but how? After the crab incident it would have thought them that sharing means to share....to divide. How on earth does sharing mean each person diving in and helping oneself? They shoukld have physically divided the grilled chicken into 5 as they know Sarah's inclination. Alternatively they could have talked about it playfully in the hope that she would understand or one of them taking her aside and wispering words of wisdom into her ears. It was clear that they didn't warm up to Sarah considering how they too to Diva. It is always disheartening not to be wanted. Hopefully, they would have learnt their lesson. I reseve my judgement on Nick at the moment!
maybe its a "love hate relationship" with you and Nick...i "bet" you will love him by week 8 or 9....bet? Why do you "hate" him so much? AND...WHATS WITH ALL THE INVERTED COMMAS?
Come on JoJo become Nick weston fan number 10...the love is there i know it! Gooooooo Hawks!!

I can see what your getting at but lets remember we see about 20 mins (after breaks) of what happens in a 7 day week! There are a lot of things that arnt shown, and a tiny bit that does to fit in with the storylines...so lets not assume that the things you suggested shud have happened havnt already
Personally I much prefer the third Island - I'm not fond of any people on the other islands but on the third Island we have sweet James who I want to pick strawberries with, lol and Char who just seems s sweet! Diva is pretty sweet also - very genuine person.
