The final "voting" was poorly done.; It should have been a secret ballot beforehand, then they could have announced who they picked one by one like on the show. By doing it publicly, OF COURSE everyone was going to go with Tigers once they had the momentum.
From a purely numerical standpoint, it makes sense for the whole group to go with tigers. They had 9. Sharks had 13. That's what decided it. Why split it between 26 people when you can split the money between 22? (well 21 since Joseph hated the Tigers so much)
By making the voting public they allowed the 3rd islanders to collude and make sure their team won.
This has already been answered on other threads. It was a secret ballot in the hutcam first so no they were not influenced. The best teams won - tigers and hawks period.
Clearly the Hawks didn't make their decision independently of each other, there's no way there would have not been a more even split if they had. Apart from Joseph they made a collective decision and with that a guaranteed win. It completely devalued the series that had gone before and the producers should have been more creative in deciding the outcome, because there's no way that could have been decided fairly.
The bottom line is the producers have a unworkable format without a lot of manipulation. On purely competition, the Sharks have been clear winners of the last series. In the second one there was clear clumsy manipulation to make sure the competition was alive to the end. In this one the producers were guaranteed a deciding finale due to the huge number of Hawks deciding in the final, but it wasn't a fair result IMO.
My favourite Island were the Hawks at the end of the day and so they won, job's a good 'un but I think the format should have been cleverer and they as an Island should have been able to compete for the main prize.
I think the format needs to be tweaked to improve matters: maybe more inter-Island tests, like the poontoon race, boat races etc, that more directly effect the outcome

I agree. Tigers were the best and deserved to win. The sharks were let down by a couple of their team members but it was obvious the hawks knew which was the better island, with the better team spirit and everything that goes with it. No contest.
During the interview on the Jo Whiley show, Rowan revealed that the one thing they didn't cover on the 3rd Island show was the issues people had with the two main Islands.
The new arrivals were coming over and telling them what had been happening and what the Sharks/Tigers thought of the people they believed had been sent home. Apparently there was some really miffed individuals!!! By the final outcome, we can only assume that the Sharks really got their comeuppance. Possibly explains why some of them were so nervous the Hawks returned...

I was a tiger since the beginning but I do have some favourites on Shark Island e.g. Danny, Keris etc.. and I felt really sorry for them when everyone picked tigers but oh well...
