unnecessary truncation of our wonderfully rich and expressive language – but perhaps I'm just getting old!!! (hope not...!)

I dont mind the odd bit of “text speak” every now and again, but I meet too many teenagers who are simply incapable of spelling or even grasping the most basic of language skills – they speak in phonetics – that's fine when you do actually know how to spell and are just making your life easier, however when its all you know there is a problem. I have a 13 year old sister who sometimes struggles to spell the most basic of words and I know Europeans of the same age that speak two or three languages perfectly well and can command the grammar at the same time – and I'm told that English, in terms of grammar, is an easy language to learn.

But that's my little rant over....lol.

im 21. i thought there would be alot more younger ppl on im talkin 14-16 with all the childish arguements thats goin on(naomi) etc.

Im 23 - i agree with you.... i thought they average age would be a lot younegr with all the childish arguments that have been going on!

Im 25 although only feel 18 but probably look about 60! (Only joking on last bit probably about 59!)

God! My spelling is bloody awful! I think i must type to quick!

gosh i feel quite young compared to the rest of the members...but i am older than a couple so makes me feel a tiny bit better! might keep you guessing on the whole age thing then!

sorry but the only 'txt lingo' i use is lol <-- it just comes naturally when talking on msn etc.

apologies if it annoys some people will try not to use its so often!

I love Shipwrecked though - shame its on late afternoon - much preferred it when I could lounge in bed and watch it.

Well, I'm 21 and I guess I thought the people on here were younger too, but then I'm quite use to forums such as neighboursfans where they ask you not to use txt speak, it's part of their rules, which is cool.

ripe old age of 17, i hate text speak! i do, however, tend not to put capital letters, apostrophes, and overdose on the good old exclamation mark! it is good how shipwrecked does attract so many disverse people though, from all ages and backgrounds!
