I found it a little weird that someone who is 26 cannot live away from home for more than week or so without having to rush back to England! The opportunity like this show never happen that often so he likely to regret it pretty quickly.

I have to admit we didn't really got to know Michael today. Instead of this is Michael and his personality, the edit copy was this is Michael and he's gay. :/

Mind you at least he went before we got annoyed with indecisiveness

I liked Michael but I think he did seem a bit ungrateful for throwing away a once in a lifetime opportunity

Surely he should have thought about this before going on the programme? Isn't it a bit selfish?

He was expecting to go home so had got used to the idea, it proves Tigers made the right choice keeping Vicki, even though Susan didn't sound too happy about saying her name. I like to think that's just because they didn't want to make such a tough decision.

I think it was more a case of happy to accept Vicki, while sad to see Michael go. They all really liked both of them.

If they had picked Michael do you think he would have been ok, or would he have been homesick and left?

I think he'd have left at some point, but maybe not quite so soon.

I think at first he used it as an excuse for going home but then when he got so used to it, he didn't want to stay.

The right decision was made then, and Tigers needed another girl.
Michael still had a good time, albeit brief and he did say he would be happy going home before the decision was made.

We do not know how long they have been out there before they went to the Island - may have been on the main Island for a few weeks first.

He did say he had not been away for home before - which I find a bit strange seeing he is 26!

Don't think he was bothered about being on either Sharks or Tigers and seemed happy to let Vickt stay instead.

Hi guys and girls Michael Cumberbatch here (Shipwreck 2008). Theres just a few things a would like to say here I go....... When I left for shipwreck there was stuff at home that I should of sorted With my family before I left which I never had the chance to do (Private stuff). So when I did get out there my emotions was running high. I never knew or expected myslef to feel the way I did, you cant hold that against me. I was offered a once in a life time oppertunity and yeah it might seem that I was ungratefull but if something is not for you its not for you. I would of ended up being miserable and that would not be fair on the other guys out there. Im sorry someone else could of been on the island instead of me but that was not the case. I did say I did not want to seem ungrateful, there was a lot of footage not shown which Vicky and myself have no control over. I would of liked it to be shown so you guys would of got to known us better. I was more than happy when Vickys name was called out, In such a short space of time Vicky and I had formed such a strong bond which we will share for ever. If the tigers had picked me at the beach party I would of still gone home and the tigers knew this they knew how I felt and what I needed to do. Age does not coming into. I really did enjoy myslef and made some wicked friends but I needed to come home. I hope you all can understand and see it from my point of view, on that note I wish you all the best and I hope you enjoy the rest of the show. Michael Cumberbatch (Shipwreck 2008) x

Thanks for posting Michael, I think the reason people have been so outspoken about you leaving is that they were probably looking forward to finding out what you're like

Hope you got everything sorted out and are in a good place now

The only problem I had with Michael chickening out was that they wasted an entire "Third Island" episode on HIM and we barely saw the others.
