I totally get why folk are slagging off Tom, I mean, honestly the behaviour! But I kind of feel a bit sorry for the slagging that Matt's getting. Obviously he was a part of a dirty tactic, but not by choice, what was he supposed to do? All we saw was him briefly being offered a place by Jack, nicely, to which he said 'i'm flattered, thank you'. That was his entire involvement, and then, maybe naively, I thought the rest just panned out as it did, whereas all the editting and voice over implicated him in all the lying and cheating when in fact, he'd not had any part in it. He was labelled the double crossing etc, I'm just curious as to what folk think he should of done? Was he naive? Do you think he knew more? What do you think? Or am I being naive?!
He could always play the game fairly. Mike was sticking up for him saying they have bonded well and he has no idea whats going on behind his back. Think how Mike would have felt when he found out someone he trusted was working against him. I would be so peeved off if someone did that to me who I trusted.

I agree, it wasn't his fault, he preferred the Tigers anyway and would have wanted to be on there whether that offer was made or not. Tom is the one in the wrong, and it will all come out eventually.

I feel sorry for Matt. If you'd been accepted onto Shipwrecked, found you could be going home in a week, then had an offer like that, don't you think it would mess with your head a little? I suspect it was that which stopped him enjoying his time on Sharks, and he thus missed out on a big part of the experience.

Its still sneaky and unfair on Mike. I would rather play fair and end up going home than play sneaky and staying. I guess some people just can't say no to temptation.

It was still unfair to Matt, it would have marred his time on Sharks, he never got a chance to enjoy it there as he would have been constantly thinking about what the tigers promised.

I totally agree. Why did the Sharks think that what Tom did was alright?!? He came up with the idea, and managed (somehow) to get someone else to do his dirty work for him! I hope the Sharks realise this so EVERYONE hates him! That'll teach him!

Matt was guilty on so many counts. He should thanked the Tigers but encouraged them to choose him on merit, if eventually they choose to stay at Tigers citing that he would not feel comfortable around his mate Mike with that knowledge. He could then promise not to menttion the attemp to Mike. He should have given the Sharks the chance to woe him rather than leave Mike to make all the running to keep the Shark happy with the new arrivals. It will be interesting to see where their budding friendship would go when both have full knowledge of what happened.
well..you know what they say....hindsight is 20 20
I doubt that matt really had that much time to think about all the consequences of his actions, he was probably too caught up in everything, if I was in the same position as him I'd have probably done the same - pressure can do all sorts of things to the mind
it wasnt really made clear to him that it was a "dirty scheme" in my opinion, there are few people who would have done differently cos to him it was pretty much just being told that he was picked, simple as. yes he could have told mike and tried to reach an agreement but i think ADAM was particuarly unfair on him
i think if any of us had been in the same position and had been faced with the prospect of going home against the opportunity of definitely staying it would have been very difficult not to take that chance. It's very easy sitting at your laptops at home to be all sanctmonious but i know i would have done exactly the same. I don't blame Matt at all. Besides, Mike had an awkward geekiness about him that was a little creepy.
Matt was bang out of order!!!!!!! If he was any kind of decent gentleman he would have told mike about what the tigers proposed to him, simple. Do you think James or Char would have kept quiet, i dont think so....he was spineless, so please steve and mikita picked up on that!!! If matt was a good guy he would have told mike....its that simple.

That's what I kind of thought, and because I don't think he knew it was such a dirty scheme, when they told him he'd be picked, as he said he was flattered, but his first response wouldn't be to go tell the other one. I mean, what would he say 'Oh by the way, they like me more than you' I think you'd just wait and see what happened. Awkward situation to be put in by anyone, god knows what anyone would do in such a short space of confusing time on a tropical island on the other side of the world combined with crafty editting and missing facts!
I don't think it's fair to blame Matt because he didn't know what to do for the best - for all he knew the tigers had promised mike a place as well just to secure a win.
As for not giving the sharks a chance maybe he just didn't like their island - i wouldn't either seeing as their idea of fun is forcing people to eat lamb tongue and then watch them throw it up!!!
its not Matts fault that he was put into that situation.

Completely agree with the above
also, possibly if Matt refused to go along with the deal, Tigers would then have asked Mike...who may have agreed.
I think it's easy for us to sit at home and be perfect people but if I had been there I would have accepted, bearing in mind Jack made it seem as though Tigers just liked Matt better rather than letting him know it was a 'scheme'

Me too, I mean what else do you do? Go against it and risk going home?
Also agree with Holly...It wasn't made clear to him how much of a 'scheme' it was, and i can't BELIEVE how Adam spoke about Matt. Why didn't he have a go at Tom, IT WAS HIS IDEA!!
