The latest news on Gordon Ramsay is that he's got a bit of disrespect towards vegetarians. As a vegetarian, I would use many of the words which Ramsay himself uses, to describe him.

This has got to be a low point. Is Ramsay such a spiteful idiot to think this is funny. Many other chefs are outraged, and I believe that if Gordon Ramsay cannot have even the slightest respect for vegetarians, then he should not be in the catering industry. Customers are customers, and that gordon Ramsay finds this funny is shocking. He's been under fire before, and i rally think that it is time for the vegetarian society to act.

The last time, the vegetarian society called for his Michelin stars to be taken away, which wa sover chicken stock in soup. I really think that the lack of respect shown by Gordon Ramsay is astonishing. I was just starting to gain respect for him after the last incident, and now I've lost all my respect. I seriously hope that some vegetarian out there gives him a stern kicking, because afte rthis performance, he deserves no less.

As a vegetarian, I’ve had the most awful food put in front of me in restaurants over the years.

But the last couple of years the clever chef’s are getting their act together and producing some quality food now.

We are all become aware about the risks of eating animal products and the narrow minded chef’s who disregard the needs will be left by the wayside thank God.

On reflection I thing they are scared to experiment with new food types.

Like the saying goes “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. Maybe they are past their sell by date.

What an idiot - of course he knew what the pizza was made with. What does he gain by doing that?

Such a caveman - does he really think he "turned" a vegetarian by deceitfully feeding him meat? No, it made him look like a silly child and made the customer very upset.

What a great advert - get Gordon Ramsey to come to your restaurant that is suffering from lack of custom and then let him feed your customers with things they do not want to eat. What a brilliant idea. What is that old stat - if you have bad service you tell nine people then they tell even more.

If it were my restaurant I would have told him to sling his hook right there and then after behaving like that.

Even if he didn't know what was in the pizza he still shouldn't have acted the way he did.

I'm a vegetarian living in Letchworth (the area where this incident occured) and I'm absoloutely disgusted with what happened. I don't agree that Ramsey needs a kicking, because that wont resolve the issue, but I deffinately think that as a chef he could do with having a bit more respect towards people and their rights as consumers to choose what they do and don't eat.

As I say, I live in Letchworth, and if I see that guy about the town I'll go talk to him and let him know about the support he's getting from us. If I see that divvy woman who made the pizza I'll suggest a career change!

You have completely missed the point, and a good chef would need to have respect and that horrible man has none. He has a warped sense of humour and if he were to give the wrong food to any religious groups people would be up in arms - quite rightly but because it was 'only' veggies it is seen as funny. Most veggies have decided to live that lifestyle because they have thought through their actions and to be deceived by chefs is an insult. Mad

Actually, humans aren't designed to eat meat. The modern meat based diet is one of the causes of obesity. We simply cannot cope with that much fat. When did you last see a fat vegetarian?

Absolutely - the biggest pile of crap I have seen on this site !!

It is well known that eating meat had significant positive effects on human evolution.

Vegetarians not being fat !! - Ha Ha Ha - PMSL.

Vegetarians should be banned, cause far too much trouble trying to stop me from driving my car and generally ruin everyones life by taking all the fun away.

Watching the show, I think the press gave GR a bit of a hard time. What was shown was a Polish chef presented a cheese and tomato pizza but omitted to say that there was some ham on the base.

I'm sure that many vegetarians who have travelled in central Europe (like me) have come across this: apparently meat-free dishes that turn out to contain meat.

It seemed like a genuine mistake to me - although they could have done more than just laugh.

That is the funniest thing I have read for ages - banned and ruining lives!!

I guess you have had a bad experience with one then. Either that or you like using a big spoon.

Oh yes, he evolved all by himself! I'm sorry mate, but if you actually believe this, and aren't just trolling, then a good kick up the jacksie is what you could di wit has well. The point is that this guy has made a decision not to eat meat, and it should be respected.

So what do you propose? Daily bacon quotas? I personally think you're a nutter. This is a free country, and people can eat whatever the hell they want. Vegetarians don't want to take the fun out of anyone's lives. You're a bloody nutter to even suggest that. I'm a vegetarian. When was the last time i tried to ruin your life and stop you driving your car?

Humans ar eomnivores. I don't like to say that we were "designed", strictly speaking, for anything, since "design" suggests that some geezer has drawn out plans, whereas we're just here, as we are. Anyway, human beings are omnivores. We have the ability to digest food from a variety of sources, plant or animal. It just happens that we have a choice in the matter, so I don't want to eat meat, and I can do so quite well.

And chris, there's no doubting Ramsay's talent, or that he has a sense of humour. I can laugh at some of the stuff he says and the people at channel 4 edit the programme in a manner that maximises it. However, in this instance, it was about as amusing as watching john major eating porridge.

I can't say I've experienced any mavericks putting meat in my food, but I already have a way of delaing with the problem should it arise - Put insane amounts of capsaicin in their food. Upon seeing them gag at the immense heat, say "What's the matter? i thought it was amusing it put undesirable substances in other people's food?" And i would happily empty a jar of Blair's 6AM into their food, just to prove a point. of course, upping the scoville count of someone's food to ridiculous levels isn't something I would do to people, unless they needed teaching a lesson.

Surely the answer is, if you're a vegetarian, don't eat at Gordon Ramsay's restuarants...

OOOO Touchy !!

PMSL though - a veggie calling me a nutter, haven't laughed so much in ages.

I'm a vegetarian, have been for years (oh, and about 5 stone overweight the last time I looked - yes we can be fat!).

When I initially read these posts I was incensed, but having seen the programme and read more about how GR feels about vegetarianism, I feel completely differently. I am also married to a hot-blooded meat-eating male who has always taken the p**s out of me for being veggie, but always respected my right to choose and made sure that I have food to choose if we eat out. I don't think Gordon is much different! To me, on the programme, he looked embarrassed and was acting like a prat to make up for it. He's known for winding up vegetarians and other typically liberal thinkers.

I've been veggie for over half my life and believe we're meant to be omnivores. Most of all we're meant to have a sense of humour. If someone cruelly and deliberately tricked me into eating meat I (and my other half) would be furious. If it was just a cock-up, I'd get over it. I think this was just a cock-up!

I think Gordon's commitment to good food extends towards feeding vegetarians - we're all used to being fed the obnoxious lasagne and he's as against it as we are. I would be happy to eat in any restaurant where the chef is committed to making sure I have good food - and I believe this is true of GR's places. Pity that in deepest Devon we'll probably never get the chance.

I also thought the veggie guy on the programme in question looked rather amused!

Shoot me down, but fellow veggies, do lighten up!

A good famine would soon sort the omnivores from the boys.

A huge volcanic erruption, for example plunging the world into several years of winter, all crops failing, mass starvation.

How many veggies would be left in the
'I haven't eaten for a week, it's the fluffy bunny or me' scenario?

I am a vegan - not for any moral reason at all though.

I think what Ramsay did was despicable. Imagine if he had put bacon in an orthodox Jew's meal. Dietary choices should be respected, as should religious ones.

If he had have done that to me I would have shown HIM what a temper is like.

But I have to agree - chefs do not like vegetarians because they simply cannot cook for them.

Bigrob, watch your assumptions. Many meateaters prefer to buy their meat pre-packaged so they don't have to think about its provenance.

I am the first to admit that I would find it difficu
