Yes i did cook along and found that Programme was rushed and most of content was irrelevant. Maybe the lady letting it all hang out was relevant and she represented free range meat?

I would have pref for them to cut out the irrelevant shots and cooking challenges between Gordon and the featured cooks. They should have focused on the food the nation were brainwashed into going out and spending their preciuos money on.

Maybe they should have made more of an effort to ask supermarkets to put together a discounted cook along package for the night?

A dissapointing end to the so good food week.

I am also confuded as to why there are quite a few positive comments on the channel 4 website and so many bad ones on other forums. I cannot put the website in here, but of you go to a popular search engine and search for this programme name and forums a few should come up.

It would have been much better to have a half hour slot between 6-6.30 every day of the food week and had Jamie cook a healthy family main meal, that people might have actually cooked again. Gordon is brilliant, but swearing would be too much at 6pm Smile

One more comment...A shame there was no info/updates to the school dinners that Jamie got involved in.

As my kitchen is the size of a postage stamp and I have not got a TV in there, I did not cook along . I am also a pensioner on a very limited income and I could not afford scallops and steaks. It is also impossible to find them in this very rural area! So I really think that this programme was not aimed at people like me in fact, it was a bit elitist.
I did watch some of the programme and thought if Gordon told Chris Moyles to "Keep up, big boy" one more time I would have thrown something at the Tv so I turned over. I didn't like the camera wobbles or the arty shots. In fact, if Channel 4 repeat the exercise I will not be watching!

Fast and furious was the theme of the evening! My husband was running about like a headless chicken and our son shouting about the things we had missed, as we were finding it hard to keep up. However, had a fun time and enjoyed the food, apart from the fact I had only half eaten my main course when we were straight into finishing the pud! More please Gordon, but perhaps next time with more camera shots about the preparation and cooking and a little slower to enable things to be not so frantic. Kitchen looked like a bomb site by 10pm and we were totally exhausted. Don't know how chefs keep up the pace in the real world.

Didnt cook this time, but loved the show, especially with Chris Moyles, he did so well keeping up with the fab Gordon.
I had an invite from Optomen but due to weather conditions could not travel up there.
Hope to get another chance in the future.

The horrific camera work made this show unwatchable. Someone should get fired.

Excellent programme!!! Does Gordon bang his hands all the time to stop him using the f word or is it a case of hurry up everyone! or pure excitement!!

Just watched the repeat, obviously not cooking this time, it looks when you are watching and not cooking that there was loads of time in between and the instructions were clear and calm and a little tame, when you were actually doing it this thank god was not the case, I don't know how those who didn't take part live can possibly comment on how this worked. Have people fired? I think not, it was the best laugh I have had in the kitchen in years, it was fast paced, frenetic, f'ing brilliant, food was great, camera shots? who gave a tossed salad? If you were doing it you were too busy to watch camera shots. this was a first time experiment, there were bound to be teething problems, but get fired? People who do not have imagination or a sense of adventure probably can see only the negative side of this programme, if you listen to those who actually took part and had the balls to do so they are the adventurers, the pioneers, the ones who are saying it wasn't perfect but hey it was a step into the unknown and we were a part of it, whilst those who merely sat and made negative comment and did not take part are those who probably believe that world is flat. Where are we going if we don't take the first steps over the edge? Think about it. Come on Gordon give us some more mate, I for one loved it, wished that I had had friends, (and the money to finance the adventure) round to part take of the whole experience rather than just my hubby and son but, well, I did it, I loved it and I want more. Thumbs Up

It was great fun
Myself , my wife and 2 teenagers all joined in

Reading some of the previous logs, it would appear some of you think you were paying for a 1:1 with Gordon, get real and accept it for what it was, innovative and freah. It will get better with time & practice for both parties.
I absolutley LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOved IT

My 15 year old son plagued me all week about this! (He has aspirations of being a chef!!) On Friday I complied and allowed him to go to local market with Gran to buy all the stuff. The market was cheaper than the likes of Tescos but still cost about £25 for all the stuff. Bear in mind this is all my son's idea!! We got home from school, work etc at about 7pm. My son of course not interested now in preparing for the Cook Along!! Also, we don't have the luxury of a T.V in kitchen. I got the dining table ready for him to start cooking - the plan being that I would work as his assistant in the kitchen and he would tell me what was to be done. Well, suffice to say it was pretty manic! I felt Gordan just rushed everything far too much. We ended up guessing what half of it was meant to be. For instance- we completely missed the way to do the potatoes - ended up deep fat frying in Flora oil!! The salsa- we just made up our own! The steak we did as usual - think it was the same way as Gordan. The chocolate mousse we more or less got the idea. By that stage my 12 year old daughter got roped into doing it!! We all had 'fun' of sorts but it was all just a bit of a panic. We managed because I've a good idea of how to cook anyway; how anyone who hadn't a clue would have coped I dread to think!! It was good fun eating it all at the end but I just think Gordan had this billed as he was going to show us all how to do it and he didn't really do that. Considering the money we spent on all the ingredients- which is probably peanuts to him but is a considerable amount for me; I'd have to think twice the next time. P.S: The chocolate mousse was in my opinion far too sweet!! Was it really necessary to put in sugar & crunchy bar. Plus it basically consisted of double cream! Not very healthy I would guess?

I would mirror alot of the comments below. I thought this was Gordon's chance to show the nation that we, too, can cook the perfect meal, by following him step for step. Instead, we got some ridiculous programme with naked people, Janet Street-Porter(!) and the most nauseating camera work I've ever seen on real time telly - which resembled something directed by Michael Mann. Complete shame, as this could have been something really special. I absolutely love Gordon Ramsay, and was surprised he was talked into producing a mess like this. Dont think Jamie would have gone along with such a ridiculous idea!

We had a fab time, what a laugh, fell behind, caught up, ended up getting everyone working so was a team effort. Will definately do this again if you do one, would like a little longer to eat in between. Had to stay up til 3am drinking wine to get over the stress of the kitchen !!!! Excellent !!! Would love to volunteer to be on it next time ??? Also, made us think about where our food was coming from, made sure we bought from local farm ( Wealden Farmers Network, Netherfield, Nr Battle for meat) and hastings old town fish shop (scallops). This spurred us on to join chicken out and commit to buying free range chicken in future and to help with the extra cost of this meat, decided to eat less meat and substitute meal or 2 a week that are veggie or egg based. Which then made us take the plunge and buy an "Eglu" this weekend too, so our own chickens arrive this week . WOW, what a weekend. So thanks Gordon, from small acorns.......

Enjoyed every bit!! It was fast, manic and funny. Loved the food, it tasted great.
Thanks gordon for showing us that we can cook a tasty and healthy 3 course meal in an hour.
That was the whole point of it, so i cant see why people are complaining about camera shots, a nude woman and the like. He is a 3* mitchelin chef and manged to show us you dont have to be too serious about food and spend hours preparing and cooking.
Well done GR, hope you do it again!!!!!!!!!!

Cookalong was brilliant. We taped programme and made the meal on the Sunday. Thoroughly enjoyed by all of our family. We will cook this food again. Would definitely join in if there was another cookalong.

Fantastic, watched it all and with a little help from Sky plus watched it again. Didn't cook it all (scallops not really for me nor the Pudding plus we didn't have the extra cash for them) But Bring on the steak.... It was great we prepared and cooked exactly as shown for the time given.... Fantastic .... Melt in the mouth or what.... would do again and again. Hubby usually cooks the meat just great but this time absolutely fantastic would have paid good money for it.

Trying to buy better meat and more importantly chicken and eggs. So far the shows have been real eye openers and great food...

keep feeding us we are hungry for more....
