If you watched the show last night you will know that one of the featured dishes was Sea Bass. My question is where on earth can you get hold of some that size ? I have had them that big on holiday abroad but, i have never seen any that size in this country. I live near Leeds which has a very good section of fish stalls in the market. However the Sea Bass there is not even half the size of the ones featured on last nights show. Any ideas ? I was ripping my hair out too the amount that got thrown away.

The only Sea Bass I could found in Liverpool city center was from M&S, and it's no where near as chunky or nice a bit as GR had.

(our fish market is rubbish, I'vce pretty much given up on it)

My main complaint is that M&S is the only place I can find fish that has been altered, or isn't already smothered in herbs or the such, Tesco is a big culprit of this.

It really annoys me, I can cook, I don't fear food and I sure as hell don't need stuff half prepared for me. I'm sure we'd be in a better place as far as food goes in this country if shops just sold decent quality of ingredients and not meal solutions.

Same problem, the only ones I could find looked more like trout! Maybe they will have more taste but not as impressive to look at.

To Britain's shame (and to an extent, the Fisheries Comission) most of the sea bass caught around British waters, by British fishermen, gets shipped - over here, to France. HOpefully, people like G. R. and Rick Stein can arouse the justifiable piscatorial passions amongst British wannabe chefs, and get it kept where it should be - in the UK!!

I cooked it last night and it was really nice, but it's the first time I feel I've been let down by ingredients, which were at the top end of my budget as well. Mad

I would have paid extra for chunkier bits of sea bass if such things would have been avilable.

It's a lovely recipe though, that sauce is lovely, and I'm sure I can out it to more uses than sea bass!

to get good size bass in this country you have to get to the coast, its not going to swim to leeds im sorry, do as i do get your rod out and catch your own. seriously though you can get good size bass in this country, but it is the wrong time of year for bass fishing, so it will be hard to get hold of right now.
