I'm in Hawaii-and we're watching the season with the pigs right now, on BBC America. I've always enjoyed the other series, too.
GR just cooked what he called a pilaf the other night- pronounced it "Pile-aff", and to my mind, it was a Paella! Seafood, rice, saffron, etc. Looked great, but it is always interesting to see what you call things across the pond! Even tho I lived in London for a year, the terms still are new and interesting.
Can't wait to eat in one of the 3 restaurants he's opening in the U.S.shortly.
Hi there, Pillaf, paella, very similar, none of these are British in name but I know what you mean. Terminology varies greatly even though we speak the same language. My grandmother was from San Francisco so I was brought up with "scallions" as opposed to what the English call spring onions for example. By the way what exactly are Graham Crackers? I have seen them in recipes from the US and and don't know what they are. Could they be what we call cream crackers?. Keep us informed about the new restaurants in the US, it is very interesting to see how we and our ideas go in your country.
How interesting that you are from Hawaii, I used to love Steve McGarret, how old am I?!!! and as it is my 50th birthday this year how appropriate! . We do get a few of your compatriates coming onto the forum so keep in touch and welcome to the forum.

The people in the United States Love Gordon Ramsay also! I live in Ohio. There are groups of us who watch him on BBCA.
We just loved watching Gordan and his children raise the turkeys!
We are watching the episode with the pigs, but unfortunately here , we have not been able to see it the last two weeks. I sure hope it comes back on and we get to see what happens with the pigs!
You have to watch the next episode with an open mind, it will tell you a lot about Gordon and it may not be the nicest thing you watch from England but it is if one thing honest. Don't want to spoil it for you guys as this is about a year old for us. Debate it with your family once it is over, we did as a family here in England. Another English programme that elicits debate and family participation.
