Here in North Dorset we have a brilliant new farm shop with a butcher using local meat-It's called "The Udder Farm Shop" and is just off the A30, south of Shaftesbury
We've got a great butcher in North East Somerset at Radstock, Paul Loader Traditional Butchers is as the shop states the kind of butcher we knew and loved before those b****y supermarkets tried to exterminate the competition. The proprietor, Mr Loader, is extremely helpful and bends over backwards to fulfil customer's requests. More than this he is passing on his expertise to a young trainee. Give him a try, he is within easy reach of Bath and Bristol which I believe to be devoid of independent butchers of this quality.
A W Andrews Family Butchers on Manor Road (the highstreet) is my family business which my Dad owns and is mainly family run...it is the only traditional butchers in the area and it has been there for 50years. Our local supermarket built a butchery department which we feared would be the end of us, but our loyal customers have stuck by us! Hand made sausages, burgers, local produce and friendly service...you dont get that in a supermarket!!
A good old fashion family run butchers shop for over 80 years. They only sell Quality Assured meats and make their own sausages and burgers fresh every day. Mother has been going there since a little girl before the war.
GB Lister Butchers in Lenham Village Square - just off the A20. Traditional butcher & superb quality meat, specialises in local produce including his own lamb. Beef melts in your mouth. Also local chutneys, mustards etc etc
Excellent butchers with quality produce, meat, cooked meats, cheese etc. Very tasty home made pies. The staff are cheerful and very helpful. An asset to our High Street.

If you venture into South West Scotland along the A76 you will find Thornhill home of John G Renicks Butchers, who stock the most amazing local Beef and Lamb as well as the local Dalgarnock Pork, there pastry 's are to die for and they have many awards for them.
A great choice of fresh home & locally produced meat. Good value for money. Brilliant customer service. If you want something they don't have they will do their best to provide it for you.
Woking, Surrey. VINCENTS BUTCHERS Excellent local butcher in Oriental Road (residential side of town, right opposite PO sorting office) Great quality and service from Vince & Ian. Famous for their homemade sausages. Does a great line in BBQ meats and his Golden promise turkeys are a must for Xmas. Definitely recommend them.
Fred Lyons in Shotgate, nr. Wickford, Essex. An unpretentious local butcher like we used to have everywhere. Fred is especially careful to hang his meat properly and for a decent time. He's also recently started curing his own gammons and bacon chops.
Now run by John Briers (I assume M Brier's son) this place is a fantastic local butchers where all the staff know the names of the regular customers. The meat is of the highest quality and, if you ask, you can find out which local fields it was raised in. Most importantly you buy meat from here and it has naturally flavour - something supermarket meat doesn't manage!
