Really? I have three really good farm shops by me, you would think that there would be somewhere near you. supermarkets are naff for decent food.
There are several that deliver - which is useless as I work in Manchester center.
There are 2 grocers listed in the Organic Directory that are open on a weekend, one takes their delivery on a Tuesday - so by the time I get there most of the stuff is either fit for stew or ready to walk out the door, the other is the one on the other side of the city (which I've not actually had chance to get to yet).
Home deliveries are out because they wouldn't be there when I got back. I have to have a shop that has fresh produce on a weekend - there aren't any. The nearest organic farm shop is near Wigan and asks that appointments are made before visiting!
(and while I'm on the subject, I drive a diesel - can I get bio-diesel anywhere? NO I DAMNED WELL CAN'T !!)
yep it's always the way, you'd think it wuld be easy in a big city like yours.
We've a wicked farm by us, you would love it, you can actually choose your own pig. They are all free range and you choose it way before it goes to slaughter, lol it breaks my heart but my boyfriend eats meat, so it's brill for him. It's not that expensive either and you can pop and see it and give it an apple . I think organic supermarket chicken is so expensive.

I don't believe "organic supermarket chicken" exists. Anything that is that perfect stting up primly in its cellophane and PCB wrapper is suspect in my book (I've got a damned good butcher 150 yards from my house - the only meat in my freezer comes from him. And there's an excellent fish market in Bury on a Saturday).

too true, I knew people who use to work at a chicken factory in wolves and the storys I heard were terrible and this was for one of the brand name chicken company's.
Chris, Bigbarn is a useful site, you stick your postcode in and it will show you various produce within a certain radius from where you live , or do a google search for farmers markets in your area.

Thanks, but guess what... Within 15 miles of my postcode there are : >One non-organic farm with a VERY small shop (already crossed off my list from ages ago) >A brewery >A "specialist producer of firewood" >A black pudding shop (get them from the local market anyway) >A sheep farm, visit by prior appointment >A farmers' market - every other Sunday.
