Having just read the owners response to the RKN I can't help but feel that Gordon got him down right. He seems to be blaming everyone except himself. I can't quite marry the idea that
quote:
The Granary is situated in a fairly well to do area and as a result we have quite a good number of intelligent, worldly customers that use our restaurant. They never had any issues with our food or service and always loved Martin's menus.
and the fact he was losing £4000 a week. You can't be losing that sum each week if the customer base is solid but I suppose it's easier to blame the staff or suppliers, C4, the punters, anyone, rather than accept you are out of your depth.

Quite enjoyed this one. Still think that he needs a restaurant manager, if he paid a person £300 pw the gains in the quality of service preventing loss of customers would pay for itself in a matter of months. Good luck to Martin in his ventures. Hope Nigel keeps on track. BTW if you do do a re-visited, which would be nice, please, please, please can it be a real re-visit, not the usual format of a 95% rehash with a 5% update.

Bit of bad news about the restaurant, was reported recently that The Granary burnt down :-

Granary Fire

It's always a shame when a restaurant having gone through so many problems suddenly has this happen just as they're recovering.

Hopefully the place be like a Phoenix and rise from the ashes.

The Granary is not that far from where I live. Never been there myself, but a few people I know have and there have been a few raised eyebrows and the 'insurance job' whisper doing the rounds...nothing concrete though.
